Chevrolet Silverado (second Generation)
The second generation of the Chevrolet Silverado is a series of trucks manufactured by General Motors from 2006 until 2013 under the Chevrolet brand, and also under the GMC brand as the GMC Sierra. Overview The GMT900 generation of the Silverado/Sierra arrived in the last quarter of 2006 as a 2007 model. It features a redesigned exterior, interior, frame, and suspension as well as power increases on certain engines. Like the previous generation GMT800's and earlier C/K lines, it takes many styling cues from the GMT900 SUVs of the same year. Like the GMT900 SUVs, these pickups have improved aerodynamics over their predecessors thanks to steeply raked windshields and tighter panel gaps which help improve fuel economy. The previous GMT800 models were continued through 2007 badged as "Classic," just as the GMT400 models continued for two years after the GMT800's introduction. The second-generation Silverado earned the '' North American Truck of the Year'' award for 2007 and was ...

GM used the Active Fuel Management technology on a range of engines including with the GM Small Block Gen IV engine family, first-generation GM EcoTec3 engine family, second-generation GM High-Feature V6 DOHC engine family, and first-generation High-Feature V8 DOHC engine family. GMT900
The GMT900 is a General Motors full-size Pickup truck, pickup and SUV platform used from the 2007 to 2014 model years. The platform was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, as the replacement for the GMT800 platform. The first GMT900 vehicle introduced was the next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe. GMT900 had been called a "Hail Mary pass" for the General Motors Corporation—the company needed the revenue from these large trucks to ensure its financial solvency. The company's resources were focused exclusively on GMT900 development through 2005, delaying other programs like the GM Zeta platform. With the 2005 spike in gasoline prices, some analysts have questioned the wisdom of "betting the company" on a line of large trucks. Sales were initially brisk, but later dropped off as the market moved to more fuel-efficient unibody vehicles. The GMT900 series features standard vehicle stability control. Original plans called for American Axle's "I-Ride" independent ...
