Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., Doing business as, trading as Chery (), is a Chinese automobile manufacturer and brand headquartered in Wuhu, Anhui, China, and owned by the Wuhu municipal government. Founded in 1997, it is currently the Automotive industry in China#Sales data, fifth largest automobile manufacturer group in China with 1,881,316 vehicles sold in 2023. Chery was founded in 1997 by government officials of Wuhu city, which appointed Yin Tongyue, the current chairman as the company's first technical director. Chery launched its first car called the Chery A11, Fengyun in 1999 by using a licensed SEAT chassis. During its early years, Chery utilized technologies from other manufacturers, some were licensed and some others were acquired by reverse engineering. International Motor Show Germany
The International Motor Show Germany or International Mobility Show Germany, in German known as the ''Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung'' (''IAA'' – International Automobile Exhibition), is one of the world's largest mobility shows. It consists of two separate fairs, that subdivided in 1991. While the ''IAA MOBILITY'' displays passenger vehicles, motorcycles and bikes, the ''IAA TRANSPORTATION'' specializes in commercial vehicles. The Chery A11 (), also known as Fulwin, Fengyun or Windcloud, is Chery's first car. Created without government approval, it has nonetheless been the first step of Chery's success story and helped transform the Chinese automotive market from one dependent on foreign joint ventures.
