Chernoyarsky District () is an administrativeLaw #67/2006-OZ and municipalLaw #43/2004-OZ district (raion), one of the eleven in Astrakhan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the rural locality (a '' selo'') of Chyorny Yar. As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 20,220, with the population of Chyorny Yar accounting for 38.5% of that number. History The district was first established in July 1928 by merging Chernoyarskaya Volost and a part of Kamennoyarskaya Volost of Stalingrad Governorate with three rural localities in Yenotayevsky District. Chyorny Yar, Astrakhan Oblast
Chyorny Yar (, lit. ''black bluff'') is a rural locality (a '' selo'') and the administrative center of Chernoyarsky District of Astrakhan Oblast, Russia, located on the elevated right bank of the Volga River. Population: 7,642 (1899 est.). It was established as a fort on the left bank of the Volga in 1627. Seven years later, it was moved to the opposite bank. In 1785, it was designated an uyezd town. Classes During the Soviet time, each of the republics of the Soviet Union, including the Russian SFSR, had its own legislative documents dealing with classification of inhabited localities.
