Chennai Slam
Chennai Slam was an UBA Pro Basketball League franchise based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu which began to play in 2015. They were the only team who has won the league twice. History On 17 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Chennai Slam start their first UBA Pro Basketball League with a 65–61 loss to Hyderabad Sky, but made a comeback with four victories. The team finished its 6-game regular season in second place in the division. In the semifinals, Chennai Slam won over Punjab Steelers 92–77. UBA Pro Basketball League
The United Basketball Alliance (UBA) was the first men’s professional basketball league in India, comprising eight teams. The UBA was headquartered in Pune and had a city team, Pune Peshwas. The first UBA match was played on 17 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad between Bengaluru Beast and Pune Peshwas. The match was won by Pune Peshwas as they pulled out an 88-81 win. This marked the first time a professional basketball league tipped off in India. The league played out between 2015 and 2017. Yet, the Basketball Federation of India did not invite UBA players for national and international tournaments. UBA was replaced by Elite Pro Basketball League in 2022. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (also known as the Marina Arena) is a multi-purpose stadium in Chennai, India. It has a capacity to seat 40,000 people. It hosts football matches and athletic competitions. The complex also houses a multipurpose indoor stadium with a seating capacity of 5,000 which hosts volleyball, basketball, table tennis games. The stadium is also used for functions and concerts. The stadium is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. The stadium earlier hosted cricket test matches between 1956 and 1965. As of 19 August 2017 it has hosted 9 tests.
