Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin (born July 13, 1946) is an American comedian and actor. He gained recognition as part of the comedy act Cheech & Chong during the 1970s and early 1980s with Tommy Chong, and as Don Johnson's partner, Insp. Joe Dominguez, on '' Nash Bridges''. He has also voiced characters in several Disney films, including '' Oliver & Company'', '' The Lion King'', '' The Lion King 1½'', the ''Cars'' franchise, '' Coco,'' and '' Beverly Hills Chihuahua''. Marin's trademark is his characters' strong Chicano accents. Early life Marin was born on July 13, 1946, in South Los Angeles, California, to Mexican parents Elsa (; 1923–2010), a secretary, and Oscar Marin (1922–2015), a police officer for the LAPD and US Navy veteran of World War II. The Miracle Ultraviolence Connection is an American professional wrestling tag team currently performing on the independent circuit. Consisting of Cheech and Cloudy, the team has performed under a number of different names and also functioned as a stable called The Miracle Ultraviolence Connection from 2007 to 2008 with Brodie Lee as a member. Frank DeCicco
Frank DeCicco (November 5, 1935 – April 13, 1986), also known as "Frankie D" and "Frankie Cheech", was an American mobster and eventual underboss for the Gambino crime family in New York City. Criminal career Background The son of Vincent "Boozy" DeCicco from Benevento, Campania, an alcoholic soldier with the Gambino crime family, DeCicco grew up in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, but lived as an adult on Staten Island. ''Cheech'' is a 2006 Canadian comedy-drama film directed by Patrice Sauvé (his feature film directorial debut) and written by François Létourneau, based on his own prior stage play ''Cheech, ou Les hommes de Chrysler sont en ville''. The film showed at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. Plot Ron runs an escort service in a rundown part of Montreal. His murder leads to suspicion of a number of suspects. They include Cheech, the rival escort agency owner, and Stephanie, a prostitute who wants to leave the business. Cheech Wizard
Cheech Wizard is an American underground comics character created by artist Vaughn Bodē. Vaughn created Cheech Wizard on September 26, 1957, at the age of 15. He drew a hat with stars on it with legs sprouting out from beneath the oversized hat. Vaughn spotted a can of Cheechie Nuts on his kitchen table and named the character after the brand. In 1964, Vaughn furthered the character and did an unpublished strip in his journal. In 1967, Cheech appeared in a small self-published black and white comic. The Collected Cheech Wizard was published as a comic by Company and Sons in 1972 (2nd Printing 1976). In 1973, Last Gasp publishers issued the new comic ''Cheech Wizard Suck my Turnip''. From 1972 to 1975, the strips also appeared in '' National Lampoon''. The Cheech Marin Center For Chicano Art, Culture & Industry
The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, known as The Cheech, is a museum in Riverside, California. It is part of the larger Riverside Art Museum. The center is focused on the exhibition and study of Chicano art from across the United States. This is a collaborative effort between Cheech Marin, the City of Riverside and Riverside Art Museum. Cheech Marin is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and collector. He has donated or promised his collection of more than 700 pieces of Chicano art. Riverside provides the old Riverside public library to house the collection and the Riverside Art Museum manages the center. Cheech & Chong are a comedy duo founded in Vancouver and consisting of American Cheech Marin and Canadian Tommy Chong. The duo found commercial and cultural success in the 1970s and 1980s with their stand-up routines, studio recordings, and feature films, which were based on the hippie and free love era, and especially the drug and counterculture movements, most notably their love for cannabis. Career Early years The duo met in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1969. Chong was a Canadian citizen, and Cheech had moved there from Southern California to avoid the draft at the height of the Vietnam War. Chong had formed an improv group called "City Works" after seeing Second City Improv while touring as a musician.
