Cheap Thrills (Big Brother And The Holding Company Album)
''Cheap Thrills'' is the second studio album by American rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. It was their last album with Janis Joplin as lead singer before she started a solo career. For ''Cheap Thrills'', the band and producer John Simon incorporated recordings of crowd noise to give the impression of a live album, for which it was subsequently mistaken by listeners. Only "Ball and Chain" was actually recorded in concert at Winterland Ballroom. ''Cheap Thrills'' reached number one on the charts for eight nonconsecutive weeks in 1968. ''Cheap Thrills'' is the sixth studio album by the American country music band Confederate Railroad. It was issued by Shanachie in 2007. The album is composed of cover songs by country music and Southern rock artists. Michael Sudhalter of ''Country Standard Time'' gave the album a generally positive review, saying that the album showed the band's Southern rock and honky-tonk influences. "Cheap Thrills" is a song by Australian singer and songwriter Sia from her seventh studio album, ''This Is Acting'' (2016). It was written by Sia and Greg Kurstin, and produced by Kurstin. It was originally released on 17 December 2015, and an official remix version of "Cheap Thrills" featuring Jamaican singer Sean Paul was made available for digital download on 11 February 2016 as the album's second single. ''Cruising with Ruben & the Jets'' is the fourth studio album by the Mothers of Invention, released under the alias Ruben and the Jets. Released on December 2, 1968 on Bizarre and Verve Records with distribution by MGM Records, it is a concept album, influenced by 1950s doo-wop and rock and roll. The album's concept deals with a fictitious Chicano doo-wop band called Ruben & the Jets, represented by the cover illustration by Cal Schenkel, which depicts the Mothers of Invention as anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic dogs. It was conceived as part of a project called ''No Commercial Potential'', which produced three other albums: ''Lumpy Gravy'', ''We're Only in It for the Money'' and ''Uncle Meat''. David Allan Coe (born September 6, 1939) is an American singer and songwriter. Coe took up music after spending much of his early life in reform schools and prisons, and first became notable for busking in Nashville. He initially played mostly in the blues style, before transitioning to country music, becoming a major part of the 1970s outlaw country scene. Planet Patrol is an American electro group originating in the 1980s. The members were Arthur Baker, John Robie, and a quintet of vocalists led by Herbert J. Jackson (lead singer), Joseph Lites, Rodney Butler, Michael Anthony Jones, and Melvin B. Franklin (not to be confused with Melvin Franklin of The Temptations). The group only produced a single album, the self-titled ''Planet Patrol'' in 1983, which peaked at #64 on the ''Billboard'' R&B Albums chart.
