Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS University), formerly Meerut University, is a public state university located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. The university was established in 1965. It was later renamed to its current name after Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime minister of India. The university celebrated its silver jubilee in 1991. In India, state universities are run and funded by the State governments in India, state government of each of the states of India. Following the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950, education became a State List, state responsibility. Following a constitutional change in 1976, it became a Concurrent List, joint responsibility of the states and the central government. , the UGC lists 456 state universities. Ramesh Bidhuri (born 18 July 1961) is an Indian politician, lawyer and a former Member of Parliament affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bidhuri and his family have been active members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from their early childhood. Bharatiya Kisan Union
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) ( English: Indian Farmers' Union) is a farmer's representative organisation in India. It was founded by Chaudhary Charan Singh from the ''Punjab Khetibari Union'' (Punjab Farming Union) which became its Punjab branch. The union is affiliated to the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee and Via Campesina. The national headquarters of the union is located in Sisauli, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Rakesh Tikait (born 4 June 1969) is an Indian farmer rights activist and national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). He successfully led the farmer protests in 2020-2021 to cause repeal of three farmer laws implemented by the Indian government.
