Robert Charroux
Robert Charroux was the best-known pen-name of Robert Joseph Grugeau (April 7, 1909 – June 24, 1978). He was a French author known for his writings on the ancient astronaut theme. Career Charroux worked for the French post office and wrote eight works of fiction between 1942 and 1946 using the pseudonym Saint-Saviol. He also wrote the scripts for a French comic strip, ''Atomas'', about an atomic-powered superhero, appearing in the weekly magazine ''Mon Journal'' in the late 1940s. For the same magazine Charroux wrote a science fiction adventure in serial form, "Prof. Barthelemy's Flying Island." He first began using the pseudonym Charroux in 1942, that became his regular pseudonym from 1962 onwards. Robert Charroux married Yvette Bernuchot in April 1930. They lived in rue St Sulpice in Paris during the late 1950s. In 1976 he began making plans to be buried in the cemetery of Charroux. Charroux Abbey
Charroux Abbey (french: Abbaye Saint-Sauveur de Charroux) is a ruined monastery in Charroux, in the Vienne department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, western France. History Charroux was a Benedictine abbey, founded in 785 by Roger, Count of Limoges. It had up to 213 affiliated abbeys and priories. The Council of Charroux was held at the abbey in 989. Under the patronage of William IV, Duke of Aquitaine, the assembly of clergy founded the ''Pax Dei'', or Peace of God. This agreement granted immunity from violence to noncombatants who could not defend themselves, beginning with the peasants and the clergy. Excommunication was established as the punishment for attacking or robbing a church, for robbing peasants or the poor of farm animals, and for robbing, striking or seizing a priest or clergyman who was not bearing arms. Gaby Charroux (born 1942) is a French politician. Early life Gaby Charroux was born on 25 June 1942 in Algiers, French Algeria. Career Charroux was a schoolteacher. Charroux is a member of the French Communist Party. He served as Michel Vaxès's parliamentary assistant.
