Charpokhari (also spelled Charpokhri) is a village and corresponding community development block in Bhojpur district of Bihar, India. As of 2011, its population was 1,874, in 314 households. The total block population was 101,363, in 15,961 households. Demographics Charpokhari is a rural subdistrict with no large urban centres. As of 2011, the block's sex ratio was 927, which was higher than both the overall Bhojpur district ratio of 907 and the rural-specific Bhojpur district ratio of 910. The sex ratio was lower in the 0-6 age group, with 916 females for every 1000 males, which was slightly below the district's overall (918) and rural (920) sex ratios in this age group. Members of scheduled castes made up 21.44% of the block's population (the highest proportion in Bhojpur) and members of scheduled tribes made up 0.02% (the lowest in Bhojpur). Bhojpur district is one of the thirty-eight districts of the Indian state of Bihar. Arrah town (also known as Ara) is the administrative headquarters of this district. Bhojpur district came into existence in 1972. Earlier it was the part of Shahabad district. This district is named "Bhojpur" after great Parmara King Bhoja as most early settlers were Rajput rulers of Parmara dynasty then called as Ujjainiya. In the year 1972, Shahabad district was bifurcated in two parts namely Bhojpur and Rohtas. Buxar was a subdivision of old Bhojpur district then. In 1992, Buxar became a separate district and presently the rest of Bhojpur district has now three sub-divisions – Ara Sadar, Jagdishpur and Piro. It shares its border with Uttar Pradesh in the west. Koel Arazi, Bhojpur
The true koels, ''Eudynamys'', are a genus of cuckoos from Asia, Australia and the Pacific. They are large sexually dimorphic cuckoos that eat fruits and insects and have loud distinctive calls. They are brood parasites, laying their eggs in the nests of other species. Taxonomy The genus ''Eudynamys'' was introduced in 1827 by the English naturalists Nicholas Vigors and Thomas Horsfield. The name combines the Ancient Greek ''eu'' meaning "fine" with ''dunamis'' meaning "power" or "strength". The type species was designated as the Pacific koel by George Robert Gray in 1840. A molecular genetic study by Sorenson and Payne (2005) found that the closest relative of ''Eudynamys'' is the dwarf koel (''Microdynamis parva''), and beyond that the thick-billed cuckoo (''Pachycoccyx audeberti'').
