Charmaine Smith (rugby Union)
Charmaine Smith (born 15 November 1990) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She was part of the Black Ferns 2017 Rugby World Cup champion side. She previously played for the Blues Women in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition before switching to Chiefs Manawa in 2023. Rugby career Smith debuted for New Zealand against Canada at Calgary in 2015. She was named in the Black Ferns squad for the 2017 Rugby World Cup in Ireland. She was part of the winning team of the 2019 Women's Rugby Super Series. Smith retired from playing rugby in 2020 for health reasons, and returned to her career as a sergeant in the New Zealand Police. Dargaville
Dargaville () is a town located in the North Island of New Zealand. It is situated on the bank of the Northern Wairoa River (Northland), Wairoa River in the Kaipara District of the Northland Region, Northland region. 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki Season
The 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki season was the second season of Super Rugby Aupiki (known as Sky Super Rugby Aupiki for sponsorship reasons), a professional women's rugby union club competition organised by New Zealand Rugby. The competition ran from 25 February 2023when Hurricanes Poua and Chiefs Manawa played the opening match in Levinto 25 March 2023. The tournament was won by Matatū, who defeated Chiefs Manawa 33–31 in the final in Hamilton, earning them their first Super Rugby Aupiki title. That match also resulted in the Chiefs Manawa's first-ever loss in the two-year-old competition. Competition format The competition featured four teams, who each played three regular season matches and two play-off matches. A total of ten matches were played over five weeks. Chiefs Manawa
The Chiefs Manawa are a New Zealand women's professional rugby union team based in Hamilton, New Zealand, that competes in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition. Chiefs Manawa won the inaugural season of the Super Rugby Aupiki competition. They went undefeated throughout the season and beat the Blues Women 35–0 in the final round to claim the title. In 2023 they continued their winning streak throughout the regular season, however were defeated by Matatū in the final.
