Charlie Smyth
Charlie Smyth (born 26 June 2001) is an Irish professional American football placekicker for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He has previously played Gaelic football as a goalkeeper at senior level for the Down county team, before joining the NFL's International Player Pathway Program (IPPP) in 2024. Gaelic football career Smyth began playing Gaelic football when he was four years old. He first came to prominence as the goalkeeper for Down's Ulster Under-20 Championship winning team in 2020, scoring in every game of the campaign that ended at the All-Ireland semi-final stage. In 2021, Smyth was the goalkeeper on the Down winning team to lift the Ulster Under-20 title, their first since 2009. He was one of three players from Down who received honours in the EirGrid All-Ireland Under-20 football awards that year. Placekicker
In gridiron football, the placekicker (PK), or simply kicker (K), is the player responsible for attempts at scoring Field goal (football), field goals and extra points. In most cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist. The term derives from the attempted scorer kicking the ball "from placement" of a teammate holding the ball rather than by individually drop-kicking the ball through the goal posts. 2021 All-Ireland Under-20 Football Championship
The 2021 All-Ireland Under-20 Football Championship was the fourth staging of the All-Ireland Under-20 Championship and the 58th staging overall of a Gaelic football championship for players between the minor and senior grades. The competition began on 1 July and ended on 15 August 2021. The defending champion was Galway; however, the team was beaten by Mayo after a penalty shootout in the Connacht semi-final. The final was played on 15 August 2021 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Offaly and Roscommon, in what was their first ever championship meeting. Offaly won the match by 1-14 to 1-11 to claim a second title and a first title since 1988. St Mary's University College is a university college in Belfast, Northern Ireland. History The origins of the College can be traced back to 1900 when the Dominican Sisters opened St Mary’s Training College on the present Falls Road campus with an enrollment of 100 women students. Tailteann Cup
The Tailteann Cup is a Gaelic football competition held annually since 2022 and organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is contested by those county teams, which, in the given year, have not otherwise qualified for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, and the winner is awarded the Tailteann Cup. The name 'Tailteann' comes from the ancient Tailteann Games (ancient), Tailteann Games. The title has been won by 3 different counties, none of whom have won the title more than once; as the prize for the winner is automatic entry to the following year's All-Ireland SFC, it is not possible to defend a title.
