Charlie Lynch
Charlie Lynch (1891-1968) was an Australian rugby league coach of the 1920s and 1940s. He is known as a multi-premiership-winning coach. South Sydney Lynch is mainly remembered as a premiership winning coach of the South Sydney club. A prodigy of the great Arthur Hennessey, Lynch took over from Alf Blair as the first grade coach in 1928, and coached to the club for 11 seasons between 1928-1934 and 1937–1940. He won a premiership in his debut year as a first grade coach in 1928, and also tasted premiership success in 1929, 1931 and 1932. After many years at the helm of South Sydney, he retired from coaching at the conclusion of the 1940 season. St. George As a resident of Carlton, New South Wales, he began an association with St. George, and stepped in as their first grade coach in 1947 replacing Herb Narvo from the previous year. 1947 NSWRFL Season
The 1947 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the fortieth season of Sydney’s top-level rugby league competition, Australia's first. For the first time, the number of clubs in the league reached double digits due to the admission of Manly-Warringah and Parramatta to the first grade competition. The season culminated in a grand final between the Balmain and Canterbury-Bankstown clubs. Season summary Midway through the season the Balmain club looked out of touch winning only six of their first twelve games. Five consecutive wins to end the regular season left them in position to make a finals assault. Balmain's Bob Lulham set a new record for the highest number of tries by a player in a debut season with a tally of 28 tries in eighteen matches. Jim Tait (rugby League)
Jim Tait was an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s. He played for the South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. He coached South Sydney Rabbitohs first grade from 1941- 1943 and later served on the club's board. His brother Alec, also played for the Rabbitohs. St George Dragons
The St. George Dragons are an Australian rugby league, rugby league football club from the St George, Sydney, St George District in Sydney, New South Wales that played in the top level New South Wales Rugby League, New South Wales competition and Australian Rugby League competitions from the 1921 NSWRFL season, 1921 until the 1997 ARL season, as well as the unified 1998 National Rugby League season. On 23 September 1998, the club formed a joint venture with the Illawarra Steelers, creating the St. George Illawarra Dragons team which competed in the 1999 NRL season and continues to compete in the league today. Doug McRitchie
Douglas Allan McRitchie (31 July 1923 – 30 July 1998) was an Australian rugby league player who played in the 1940s and 1950s. A New South Wales state and Australia national representative centre, he played his club football in Sydney for the St. George club. St. George Dragons career McRitchie was a St. George Dragons local junior who was graded in 1940. He had a long career with the club playing eight seasons in first grade between 1942 and 1950. McRitchie featured in three Grand finals for the club. He was part of two sides who lost deciders - 1942 and 1946 and saw success with the 1949 premiership team. His career was disrupted during by WWII, he enlisted in the AIF and he saw service in New Guinea with the 129 Australian Brigade. After demobilisation, he resumed his playing career at St George, and he captained and co-coached the club with head coach Charlie Lynch in the 1947 NSWRFL season. Arthur Justice
Arthur James "Snowy" Justice (1902–1977) was an Australian rugby league footballer, coach and administrator. He was a rugged for the St George Dragons who made New South Wales state rugby league team, state and Australia national rugby league team, national representative appearances in the late 1920s. Later he was a club administrator, national selector and league judiciary chairman. Club career A pioneer player with the St George Dragons, he made his first grade debut in the club's second season in the NSWRFL.
