Charlie Liffiton
Charles Albert Liffiton (December 14, 1878 – August 11, 1941) was an early professional ice hockey player. Over the span of his career he played for the Montreal Hockey Club, the professional Pittsburgh Bankers of the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League, the Toronto Professionals of the Ontario Professional Hockey League and the Portage Lakes Hockey Club of the International Professional Hockey League. Biography Charlie Liffiton was the son of a jeweler and grew up in a family of one sister and six brothers. He worked in his father's jewelry and confection store in Montreal, but preferred playing hockey. During the 1899–1900 season of the Canadian Amateur Hockey League Charlie was the second best scorer for his Montreal Hockey Club and the league's eighth leading scorer posting 8 goals in 8 games. Portage Lakes Hockey Club
The Portage Lakes Hockey Club was one of the first professional ice hockey clubs. Based in Houghton, Michigan, the club played at the Amphidrome from 1904 until 1906. While members of the International Professional Hockey League, the team won the league championship twice. A second coming of the team is playing in the Great Lakes Hockey League. Winnipeg Victorias
The Winnipeg Victorias were a former amateur senior-level men's amateur ice hockey team in Winnipeg, Manitoba, organized in 1889. They played in the Manitoba Hockey Association (MHA) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Victorias won the Stanley Cup in February 1896, 1901 and January 1902 while losing the Cup in December 1896, February 1899, February 1900, March 1902, and February 1903. After the Stanley Cup became the professional championship, the Victorias continued in senior-level amateur play, winning the Allan Cup in 1911 and 1912. The New York Rangers are a professional ice hockey team based in the New York City borough of Manhattan. David Liffiton
David "Dave" Liffiton (born October 18, 1984) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and the Colorado Avalanche. Playing career Liffiton began his junior career with Aylmer Blues in the OHA-B before he was selected in the 16th round, 326th overall, in the 2000 Ontario Hockey League priority selection by the Plymouth Whalers. Joining the Whalers in the 2001–02 season, and developing as a physical stay-at-home defenseman, Liffiton recorded his best season statistically in 2002–03 with 5 goals for 16 points in 64 games to help the Whalers reach Western Conference finals against the Kitchener Rangers. Ernie Liffiton
Ernest James Liffiton (January 25, 1885 – January 23, 1949) an early professional ice hockey player. Over the span of his career he played for Pittsburgh Bankers, Pittsburgh Professionals, Renfrew Creamery Kings, Montreal Wanderers, Halifax Crescents and the Toronto Tecumsehs. In 1908 he played on the Montreal Wanderers team that won the Stanley Cup. Renfew vs. Pembroke In December 1907 the Pembroke Hockey Club refused to play against the Renfrew Creamery Kings. They objected to the presence of Ernie, who was a member of Montreal Wanderers at the time, and was slated to play for the team.
