Charlie Aptroot
Charles Bernard Aptroot (born 20 September 1950) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He was a House of Representatives (Netherlands), Member of the House of Representatives from 30 January 2003 to 19 September 2012. He focused on matters of traffic, public transport and Ministry of Internal Affairs, internal affairs. On 1 September 2012, he became burgemeester, mayor of Zoetermeer. Aptroot was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2003 Dutch general election, 2003 general election. In 2010, he contested the election for Speaker of the House of Representatives (Netherlands), Speaker of the House of Representatives but was defeated by incumbent Speaker Gerdi Verbeet. In the past, Aptroot was a member of the municipal council of Wassenaar from 1982 to 1998 and an alderman of the same municipality from 1990 to 1996. House Of Representatives (Netherlands)
The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Generally, the house is located in the Binnenhof in The Hague, however, it has temporarily moved to the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Bezuidenhoutseweg 67 in the Hague while the Binnenhof is being renovated. Gerardina Alida "Gerdi" Verbeet (born 18 April 1951) is a retired Dutch politician and political consultant who served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 6 December 2006 to 19 September 2012. A member of the Labour Party (PvdA), she is the second officeholder elected independently by the House of Representatives after her predecessor Frans Weisglas. She served as a member of the House of Representatives from 26 July 2002 to 19 September 2012 and previously from 11 December 2001 until 22 May 2002. The Provincial Council of South Holland ( nl, Provinciale Staten van Zuid-Holland), also known as the States of South Holland, is the provincial council of South Holland, Netherlands. It forms the legislative body of the province. Its 55 seats are distributed every four years in provincial elections.
