Charli Turner Thorne
Charli Turner Thorne (born March 10, 1966) is a former head coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils women's basketball team and assistant coach for the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA. She has coached for 28 seasons from 1993 to 2022. She is the winningest Sun Devil coach since the team was established and , stood as No. 2 all-time in the Pac-10/Pac-12 for career wins. Biography Turner Thorne studied psychology at Stanford University, where she played basketball under Tara VanDerveer. She graduated in 1988 with a bachelor's degree and later studied for a master's degree in education at the University of Washington, graduating in 1990. She is married to Will Thorne and they have three children, Conor, Liam, and Quinn. Tara VanDerveer
Tara Ann VanDerveer (born June 26, 1953) is an American former basketball coach who was the head women's basketball coach at Stanford University from 1985 until her retirement in 2024. Designated the Setsuko Ishiyama Director of Women's Basketball, VanDerveer led the Stanford Cardinal to three NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championships, winning in 1990, 1992 and 2021. She stepped away from the Stanford program for a year to coach the U.S. women's national team to a gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games. VanDerveer was voted Naismith National Coach of the Year in 1990, 2011, and 2021 and was voted Pac-12 Coach of the Year 18 times. VanDerveer was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament. It used to feature both a preseason and postseason version played every year, but the preseason tournament was last held in 2023. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent tournament. Triple Crown Sports, a company based in Fort Collins, Colorado that specializes in the promotion of amateur sporting events, created the WNIT in 1994 as a preseason counterpart to the then-current National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT). Anitra Necole "Nikki" Blue (born March 29, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the USC Trojans of the Big Ten Conference. High school Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Blue played her high school career at West High School. Blue set the CIF Central Section record for points scored in a single season (913 in the 2000–01 season) and career (2,934 points).
