Charley Way
Charles Ash "Pie" Way (December 29, 1897 – January 31, 1988) was an American football player and coach. He played college football at Pennsylvania State University, where was a consensus selection to 1920 College Football All-America Team as a halfback. After leading the 1920 Penn State Nittany Lions football team to an undefeated season, the small (144 lb.) but speedy Way began his professional career in the National Football League (NFL), first with the Canton Bulldogs in 1921 and became an All-Pro as a member of fellow Nittany Lion, Punk Berryman's Frankford Yellow Jackets in 1924. He was a member of the 1926 American Football League champion Philadelphia Quakers. Way served as the head football at the University of Dayton in 1921. Embreeville, Pennsylvania
Embreeville is an historical unincorporated community, little more than a rural stretch of road with a few businesses and homes, in Newlin Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, inside a bend of Brandywine Creek. It is about west of Philadelphia, and north of Unionville. The Embreeville Historic District, which covers most of the town, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Bud Talbott
Nelson Strobridge "Bud" Talbott (June 10, 1892 – July 6, 1952) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach of the Dayton Triangles of the "Ohio League" and later a charter member of the National Football League (NFL). Talbott joined the United States Army in 1917 and served in World War I, World War II and the Korean War, rising to the rank of brigadier general. He retired as the deputy director of procurement and production at Air Materiel Command, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Talbott began his football career as a starting tackle and halfback from 1912 to 1914, for Yale University. He was consensus selection to the 1913 College Football All-America Team. In 1914, he was named captain of the Yale team. Bud led Yale to a 28–0 victory over Notre Dame, ending the Fighting Irish 27-game undefeated streak. The 1921 college football season had no clear-cut champion, with the ''Official NCAA Division I Football Records Book'' listing California Golden Bears, Cornell Big Red, Iowa Hawkeyes, Lafayette Leopards, Washington & Jefferson Presidents, and Vanderbilt Commodores as champions. Only California, Cornell, Iowa, and Lafayette claim national championships for the 1921 season. Andy Smith's Pacific Coast Conference champion "Wonder Team" at California continued on its streak since 1920. Thorndale, Pennsylvania
Thorndale is a census-designated place in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,407 at the 2010 census. Thorndale is the commercial and administrative center of Caln Township. The community's main street is U.S. Route 30 Business. Many of Thorndale's old houses fell into disrepair from the late 1990s to present and have been torn down and replaced with new businesses. Thorndale is historically notable for containing a summer house of US President James Buchanan, which still stands and has been incorporated into a golf course and turned into a restaurant. The community contains the Thorndale Fire Station and Caln Elementary School, part of the Coatesville Area School District. Thorndale sits along SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line and is currently the last station stop on that line. It is also served by the SEPTA Route 135 bus.
