Charles Wallace Midgley
Charles William Wallace Midgley (20 January 1885 – 13 December 1942) was an English footballer who played as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona. Along with his younger brother, Percival, he was part of the first great team of FC Barcelona, with whom he scored 105 goals in just 102 matches, although this tally includes goals scored in friendlies and unofficial games. Club career Born in London, his family moved to Barcelona when he was still a child. He began his career in 1905 at FC Internacional, featuring alongside the likes of Enrique Peris and Paco Bru. He helped the club achieve a runner-up finish in the 1905–06 Catalan championship, losing the title to X Sporting Club. In 1906, the club had to suspend its activities due to a lack of players, and while most of the remaining players joined FC Barcelona, Wallace instead went to FC Català, but eventually also joined Barça in 1907. Lewisham
Lewisham () is an area of southeast London, England, south of Charing Cross. It is the principal area of the London Borough of Lewisham, and was within the historic county of Kent until 1889. It is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London, with a large shopping centre and street market. Carles Comamala
Carles Comamala López-Del Pan (17 April 1889 – 4 August 1983) was an orthopedic surgeon by profession and a football player for Barcelona between 1903 and 1911. He was a director of Barcelona in 1909–1911. Early life and Career Born in Madrid, the capital of Spain, to a Basque father and a Canarian mother. In 1903, he joined Barcelona, when his friend Joan Gamper, president of FC Barcelona who had founded the club in 1899, retired. Comamala was a great striker who stood out for his side, scoring throughout his long career. He scored a total of 172 goals in 154 games for the club. Arsenio Comamala
Arsenio Comamala López-Del Pan (1888 – Unknown) was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for FC Barcelona and Madrid FC. He is best known for being one of the first players to move from FC Barcelona to Madrid FC. Career Born in Barcelona. Arsenio began his career at his hometown club FC Barcelona in 1903, together with his brother, Carles. They played for Barça until 1911, being part of the club's first great team in the early 1910s, which had the likes of Massana, Amechazurra, Peris, Paco Bru and the Wallace brothers (Charles and Percival). José Quirante
José Quirante Pineda (10 May 1883 in Alicante, Spain – 30 May 1964 in Barcelona, Spain) was a footballer who played as a midfielder, being one of the first players to play for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. He is also remembered for being one of the first professional players of the still growing sport. Quirante was one of the most important players in the amateur beginnings of FC Barcelona, playing with them for a whole decade between 1901 and 1911. He was an outstanding athlete and cyclist and, after his sports retirement, he had a prolific career and long career as a coach for numerous clubs throughout Spanish geography. Joan Gamper
Hans Max Gamper-Haessig (; 22 November 1877 – 30 July 1930), commonly known as Joan Gamper (), was a Swiss-born football executive and versatile athlete. He founded football clubs in Switzerland and Spain, most notably FC Barcelona and FC Zürich. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the amateur beginnings of FC Barcelona, being the fundamental head behind the foundation of the club in 1899, and then serving as the club's first captain between 1899 and 1903, netting over 100 goals in just 48 matches for Barça and in 1902, he captained his side to a victory in the Copa Macaya, the club's very first title. He then served as its president on five separate occasions between 1908 and 1925. Club Español De Madrid
Club Español de Madrid was a Spanish football club based in Madrid. The club was originally formed in 1901 after a conflict between Sky Football members caused some of them to leave and create a new club. Español de Madrid collapsed in the summer of 1903, but was refounded a few months later by players from a split of Madrid FC. Español de Madrid was subsequently the Campeonato Regional Centro champions in both 1904 and 1909, and reached three Copa del Rey finals in 1904, 1909 and 1910, which all ended in losses. 1910 FEF Copa Del Rey Final
The 1910 Copa del Rey Final (FECF) was the 9th final of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey (although technically there was no final, with the tournament being played as a mini-group of three teams). It was one of two rival Cup competitions played in that year due to disagreements between the reigning champion of the tournament, Club Ciclista de San Sebastián, and some of the clubs invited. The final was played at Tiro del Pichón in Madrid on 26 May 1910. The match was contested by FC Barcelona and Club Español de Madrid, Español de Madrid. The latter netted twice in the opening 15 minutes thanks to a brace from Vicente Álvarez-Buylla, Vicente Buylla, thus leading the match 0–2 down at the break, but Barça fought back and scored three goals in the second half to complete a great emotional comeback, thus lifting the trophy for the first time with a 3–2 victory. 1910 Copa Del Rey
The Copa del Rey 1910 comprised two different competitions held the same year. Due to disagreements between the reigning champion of the tournament, Club Ciclista de San Sebastián, and some of the clubs invited, in 1910 two parallel competitions were held: an "official", organized by the newly created FEF (Federación Española de Fútbol) later Royal Spanish Football Federation ( es, Real Federación Española de Fútbol, RFEF), in Madrid and an "unofficial", organized by the UECF (Unión Española de Clubes de Fútbol), in San Sebastián. The Campeonato de España–Copa de Su Majestad el Rey, commonly known as Copa del Rey or simply La Copa and formerly known as Copa del Presidente de la República (1932–36) and Copa del Generalísimo (1939–76), is an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Pyrenees Cup
The Pyrenees Cup (), officially Challenge International du Sud de la France, was an international football competition contested by Spanish and French clubs based in the territories of Pyrénées (Catalonia, the Basque Country, Languedoc, Midi-Pyrénées and Aquitaine). There have been five tournaments for the Pyrenees Cup which were held between 1910 and 1914 with the final of the championship being held in the region's capital, Toulouse. However, the last two finals were held in Barcelona. The competition was played for 5 years, from 1910 to 1914, before disappearing due to the first World War. The tournament stopped due to the beginning of World War I in 1914.
