Charles P. Bissett
Charles Parker Bissett (June 25, 1866 – November 18, 1916) was a physician and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Richmond County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1904 to 1916 as a Liberal member. He was born in River Bourgeois, Richmond County, Nova Scotia, the son of George Henry Bissett and Virginia Boudreau. He was educated at the Pictou Academy and McGill University. In 1896, he married Emma M. Cameron. Bissett was a member of the provincial Medical Board and served as physician to the Department of Marine and Indian Affairs. He was first elected to the provincial assembly in a 1904 by-election held after Duncan Finlayson was elected to the House of Commons. The Nova Scotia House of Assembly (; ), or Legislative Assembly, is the deliberative assembly of the General Assembly of Nova Scotia, and together with the lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia makes up the Nova Scotia Legislature. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party (officially the Liberal Association of Nova Scotia) is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada. Pictou Academy
Pictou Academy (PA), founded in 1815 by Dr. Thomas McCulloch, is a secondary school in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Prior to the twentieth century, it was a grammar school; a liberal, nonsectarian degree-granting college; and then a secondary school. Pictou Academy's current principal is Starr Pettipas. The Pictou Academy Educational Foundation provides additional funds to the school. The original site of the academy was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1937, as it symbolized the introduction of nonsectarian education to The Maritimes in the early 19th century. Duncan Finlayson
Duncan Finlayson (September 12, 1867 – September 25, 1925) was a Canadian lawyer, judge, and politician. Born in Grand River, Nova Scotia, the son of Donald and Annabella (Murchison) Finlayson, Finlayson was educated at the Sydney Academy and Dalhousie University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1893 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1895. He was solicitor of the municipality of Richmond, Nova Scotia from 1896 to 1904. He sat in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1897 to 1904.
