Charles Logan (born 1930) is a British science fiction writer and professional nurse. He is best known as the author of the book ''Shipwreck,'' first published by Gollancz in 1975, which was the joint-winner of the prize for the best British science fiction novel that year alongside Chris Boyce Joseph Christopher Boyce (1943 – 29 June 1999) was a Scottish science fiction author and fan. He worked in the Reference Library of the ''Glasgow Herald'' newspaper, and was there when he died suddenly. His fiction works include ''Catchworld' .... The novel tells the story of Tansis, sole survivor after his spaceship shipwreck, who landed on a planet around Capella, the main star of the Virgo constellation. Tansis fights alone against the hostile environment, struggling to survive. Logan wrote ''Shipwreck'' along with a couple of short stories that have never been published. Victor Gollancz Ltd
Victor Gollancz Ltd () was a major British book publishing house of the twentieth century and continues to publish science fiction and fantasy titles as an imprint of Orion Publishing Group. Gollancz was founded in 1927 by Victor Gollancz, and specialised in the publication of high-quality literature, nonfiction, and popular fiction, including crime, detective, mystery, thriller, and science fiction. Upon Gollancz's death in 1967, ownership passed to his daughter, Livia, who in 1989 sold it to Houghton Mifflin. Three years later in October 1992, Houghton Mifflin sold Gollancz to the publishing house Cassell & Co. Cassell and its parent company Orion Publishing Group were acquired by Hachette in 1996, and in December 1998 the merged Orion/Cassell group turned Gollancz into its science fiction/fantasy imprint. Chris Boyce
Joseph Christopher Boyce (1943 – 29 June 1999) was a Scottish science fiction author and fan. He worked in the Reference Library of the ''Glasgow Herald'' newspaper, and was there when he died suddenly. His fiction works include ''Catchworld'', for which he was best known, and which jointly won the Sunday Times/Gollancz prize for best SF Novel. He was a member of spaceflight groups including the British Interplanetary Society and he published articles and non-fiction books related to the subject.
