Charles Lockett
Charles Edward Lockett (born October 1, 1965) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 1987 NFL draft after playing college football at Long Beach State University. Lockett was also a member of the New York/New Jersey Knights of the World League of American Football (WLAF). Early life and college Charles Edward Lockett was born on October 1, 1965, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles. He played college football for the Long Beach State 49ers of Long Beach State University from 1983 to 1986. He caught seven passes for 99 yards his freshman year in 1983. A wide receiver (WR), also referred to as a wideout, and historically known as a split end (SE) or flanker (FL), is an eligible receiver in gridiron football. ''Scrabble'' is an American television game show based upon the board game ''Scrabble''. Contestants competed in a series of rounds to fill in words within a crossword puzzle for cash. Muriel Green of Exposure Unlimited developed the idea for a television game show based upon the board game concept. During 1983, Green convinced Selchow and Righter, who at that time owned the Scrabble board game, to license Exposure Unlimited to produce the game show. Exposure Unlimited co-produced the show with Hasbro Studios, Reg Grundy Productions, and licensed the show to NBC. The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (nine in Southern California alone), and one is located in Hawaii (though the Hawaii member is leaving for the Mountain West Conference, effective July 1, 2026).
