Charles F. McMillan
Charles F. McMillan (October 25, 1954 – September 6, 2024) was an American nuclear physicist and served as the 10th director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. His appointment was effective June 1, 2011. He succeeded Michael R. Anastasio. On September 5, 2017, McMillan announced he would be leaving the director position at the end of the year. Biography Charles F. McMillan had been Principal Associate Director for Weapons Programs at Los Alamos and joined the laboratory in 2006, where he was responsible for directing the science, technology, engineering, and infrastructure that enables the Laboratory to deliver on its core mission of ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the nation's nuclear deterrent. McMillan was elected by peers to lead the Nuclear Security Enterprise Integration Council. Terry Wallace (geophysicist)
Terry C. Wallace Jr. (born June 30, 1956) is an American geophysicist. He was the 11th director of Los Alamos National Laboratory and the president of Los Alamos National Security, LLC. He became director on January 1, 2018, succeeding Charles F. McMillan. Early life and education The son of the lab staff member Terry Wallace Sr. and the late Jeannette Wallace, a long-serving Republican member of the New Mexico State Legislature, Wallace was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico and graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1974. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geophysics and mathematics from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, followed by a Master of Science and PhD in geophysics from the California Institute of Technology.
