Charles Dougherty (Florida)
Charles Dougherty (October 15, 1850 – October 11, 1915) was an American politician. A Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, he served in the Florida House of Representatives, the Florida Senate, and in the United States House of Representatives. He was born in Athens, Georgia, where he attended public schools. He also studied at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, Charlottesville. He moved to Florida in 1871, settled near Port Orange, Florida, Port Orange, and engaged in planting. He served in the Florida House of Representatives, State house of representatives from 1877 until 1885, including as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, speaker in 1879. Volusia County (, ) is a county located in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Florida between the St. Johns River and the Atlantic Ocean. As of the 2020 census, the county was home to 553,543 people, an increase of 11.9% from the 2010 census. It was founded on December 29, 1854, from part of Orange County, and was named for the community of Volusia, located in northwestern Volusia County. Its first county seat was Enterprise. Robert Bullock
Robert Bullock (December 8, 1828 – July 27, 1905) was an American lawyer, judge, state legislator, and United States representative from Florida. He was a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Early life and career Born in Greenville, North Carolina, he attended the common schools. He moved to Fort King, Florida, in 1844, which was then a United States government post, near the present city of Ocala, Florida. He taught in the first school in Sumter County, Florida. Seminole uprising Bullock was commissioned by the governor of Florida in 1856 as a captain to raise a mounted company of volunteers for the suppression of the Seminole uprising. The company was mustered into the service of the United States and served 18 months, until the cessation of hostilities.
