Chapter 14 (band)
Chapter 14 is an American post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Carlsbad, California, consisting of vocalist Chad Ackerman (Destroy the Runner, As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine), guitarist Tanner Sparks (Destroy the Runner), bassist Edwin Peraza, and Jonathan Knauer on drums. History Founded in 2003 by Ackerman and Sparks the band also consisted of drummer Mike Catalano (Chiodos, Destroy the Runner), guitarist Noah Slifka (In Fear and Faith) and bassist Eddie Hudson (Paper Mache). The band was unable to put together a full-length album but did complete two full U.S. tours and several demos without a label or financial backing. After four years trying to land a record deal the band split up in 2007 when Ackerman and Sparks were offered the roles of vocalist and bassist for Destroy the Runner's departing Kyle Setter and Jeremiah Crespo respectively. As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2000 by vocalist Tim Lambesis, the band's first full lineup (including Lambesis' Point of Recognition bandmate Jordan Mancino) was completed in 2001. The band has released eight albums, one split album, and two compilation albums. As I Lay Dying's fourth studio album ''An Ocean Between Us'' peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200, and No. 1 on the Top Rock chart. Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. Metalcore typically has aggressive verses and melodic choruses, combined with breakdowns – which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. In Fear and Faith was an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the group was signed to Rise Records and released three studio albums and two EPs. Their debut full-length, '' Your World on Fire'', being released nearly a year after the band's signing to Rise in 2008, peaked at No. 193 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Their second full-length album, '' Imperial'' was released the following year and failed to make that chart, but did chart on the Top Heatseekers and overall Indie chart in the US. Chiodos (, ) is an American post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. Formed in 2001, the group was originally known as "The Chiodos Bros," the band's name was a tribute to filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo, responsible for the film '' Killer Klowns from Outer Space''. Austrian Death Machine is an American thrash metal side project from San Diego, California, founded by As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis to be a parody of and tribute to Arnold Schwarzenegger's films. History Austrian Death Machine released their first album '' Total Brutal'' on July 22, 2008. The album was dedicated to Caleb Crain on May 14, 2008, for his birthday that was two months before the scheduled release date. A few months later they released a Christmas-themed EP, ''A Very Brutal Christmas''. After some tour support of ''Total Brutal'', Lambesis went back on tour with As I Lay Dying. Joel Piper (born October 18, 1985) is a Mexican-born American singer-songwriter, record producer, musician, and disc jockey born in Sonora, Mexico. He most famously known for being the ex-drummer and clean vocalist for the metalcore band Confide from 2009 to 2013. As a solo musician, he has released three full-length studio albums and three EPs. Early life Joel Piper is half Native American and German. He was born on October 18, 1985, in Sonora, Mexico to missionary parents who resided in a humble cement home there for 5 years helping the less fortunate.
