Chaophraya Bodindechanuchit (Arun Chatrakul)
Chaophraya Bodindechanuchit (), personal name Mom Rajawongse Arun Chatrakul (, 14 April 1856 – 25 August 1921), was a Royal Siamese Army officer who served as Minister of War under King Vajiravudh from 1914 to 1921. Biography Mom Rajawongse Arun Chatrakul was born on 14 April 1856 and began military service in the royal guards in 1872 as a private assigned to the 6th Regiment and was promoted to private 1st class and then corporal of the 5th Regiment. In 1878, he transferred to an artillery regiment. On 9 April 1889, Arun became adjutant of the cadet school division while being promoted to captain. In 1892, he became commander of the cadet school, and on 4 October of the same year, was promoted to major. On 14 November, he was assigned as royal aide-de-camp, and on the 21st, he was granted the noble title of Luang Sorawiset Dechawut, with a '' sakdina'' of 800. Field Marshal (Thailand)
The Thai rank of Field Marshal () is the most senior rank of the Royal Thai Army. The rank was formally created in 1888 together with all Military ranks of the Thai armed forces, other ranks of the military by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), who wanted to modernize his Royal Thai Armed Forces, armed forces along Western lines. There have been 13 appointments to this rank. The rank has not been awarded since 1992 and its abolition has been proposed by the Thai government in 2018. Plaek Phibunsongkhram was the first commoner to hold this rank. The Chao Phraya River is the major river in Thailand, with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. It flows through Bangkok and then into the Gulf of Thailand. Etymology Written evidence of the river being referred to by the name ''Chao Phraya'' dates only to the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV, 1850–1868). It is unknown what name, if any at all, was used for the river in older times. The river was likely known simply by the Thai word for 'river', (), and foreign documents and maps, especially by Europeans visiting during the Ayutthaya period, usually named the river the ''Menam''. The name Chao Phraya likely comes from (), an alternative name, documented from around 1660 in the reign of King Narai, of the settlement that is now Samut Prakan. Chaophraya Bodindechanuchit (), personal name Yaem na Nakhon (, also spelled na Nagara) was the Siamese Minister of Defense from August 26, 1921, to August 4, 1926. Biography Early years Yaem was born on April 21, 1867, as the son of , the governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Yaem spent his childhood studying Thai and Khmer and Thai numbers under a few tutors. When he was 13, he ordained as a novice monk at Wat Phra Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat province but later moved to Wat Mai Ka Kaew. Military service Yaem entered government service in 1880 after Somdet Chaophraya Sri Suriwongse recruited him while visiting Nakhon Si Thammarat and brought him to Bangkok. Yaem then served under before becoming a cadet at the Royal Military Academy (now the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy). The Ancient and Auspicious Order of the Nine Gems (; ) was established in 1861 by King Mongkut (Rama IV) of the Thailand, Kingdom of Siam (now Thailand).
