Chanway
''Chanway'' or ''Chan Wey'' () is a 1951 Pakistani Punjabi-language film directed Noor Jehan (in her directorial debut) with the supervision of Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. It was written by Syed Imtiaz Ali Taj. Feroz Nizami provided the music for the film's soundtrack. It premiered in Lahore's Regent Cinema on 24 March 1951. The film was the first Pakistani film directed by a woman. "Mundeya Sialkotiya" was a popular track from the film's soundtrack. Noor Jehan
Noor Jehan (21 September 192623 December 2000) was a Pakistani playback singer and actress who worked in both British India and later in Pakistan's cinema of Pakistan, cinema. Her career lasted over six decades, during which she recorded 10,000 songs. Jehan had proficiency in Hindustani classical music, as well as in other genres such as Punjabi and Sindhi. She made her directorial debut with the film ''Chann Wey'' in 1951, becoming the first female film director in Pakistan. She is recognized for her contributions to music in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in Pakistan. She was given the title of Malika-e-Tarannum ("Queen of Melody") in Pakistan. Syed Musa Abbas Raza, (; 25 December 1925 – 11 June 1982) better known as Santosh Kumar (), was a Pakistani film actor who was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. He is also known as ''The First Romantic Hero of Pakistan'' and is often recognized for his role in Pakistani cinema. He was from an Urdu-speaking family from Lahore, Pakistan. Feroz Nizami
Feroz Nizami (born Ferozuddin Ahmad; 10 November 1910 15 November 1975), was a Pakistani film score composer, music director and classical singer. He composed music for bollywood films in British India and after partition, he remained actively involved in Pakistan film industry. He is primarily recognized as a music composer for a music blockbuster Indian film '' Jugnu'' (1947), which helped him to appear among the prominent composers in both India and Pakistan cinemas. His last composition in Bombay films was released in 1947, leading him to retain his position for more than twenty years in South Asia's music industry during the 1940s. The Shahnoor Studios (also spelled as Shahnur Studios) is the studio taken over by Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi and his first wife, Noor Jehan in the aftermath of the independence of Pakistan in 1947. The studio is one of the oldest studios in Lahore, Pakistan and was previously known as Shori Studios. Shaukat Hussain Rizvi
Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi (1914 – 19 August 1999) was a Pakistani actor, film producer and director. He is widely considered to be a pioneer of the Pakistani film industry. Early life and career Shaukat Hussain Rizvi was born in the city of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh in 1914. He began his career as an assistant projectionist in Calcutta in the early 1930s. Then he was given a job in the editing department of ''Madan Theatres''. By 1942, Rizvi was promoted to a film director and was assigned by the producer Dalsukh M. Pancholi to direct a film named Khandan (1942) starring Pran and Noor Jehan in the lead roles. The script of this film was written by Imtiaz Ali Taj. ''Jugnu'' () is a 1947 Indian musical romantic comedy film directed and produced by Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. The film stars Dilip Kumar and Noor Jehan in lead roles with Ghulam Mohammad, Jillo, Latika, and Shashikala in supporting roles. It also features a cameo appearance by Mohammed Rafi. It revolves around Suraj, the son of a rich landlord, and Jugnu, an orphan, who fall in love with each other.
