Giorgi Chanturia ( ka, გიორგი ჭანტურია, tr, ; born 11 April 1993) is a Georgian former footballer who played as a right winger. Career Spain Chanturia began his career on Saburtalo Tbilisi, and was loaned to Barcelona in June 2009. He was filled into Barça's ''Juvenil B'' squad, and scored 11 goals to help the Catalans to the league title. Vitesse In August 2010, after being linked with Chelsea, Chanturia signed with Vitesse Arnhem. In April 2011 he signed a three-year deal with the club. Chanturia made his competitive debut for Vitesse on the opening day of the 2011–12 Eredivisie season, as a starter in their 0–0 away draw against ADO Den Haag on 7 August. He scored his first goal for the Arnhem side in his second official match, against VVV-Venlo in a 4–0 win. In December 2012, Chanturia was loaned to Alania Vladikavkaz until the end of the season. Giorgi Chanturia
Giorgi Chanturia ( ka, გიორგი ჭანტურია, ; 19 August 1959, in Tbilisi – 3 December 1994) was a Georgian politician and the National Democratic Party leader who was murdered in Tbilisi, Georgia in December 1994. He entered national politics by reviving the Georgian National Democratic Party (NDP) as an informal anti-Communist oppositional organization in 1981. He was arrested several times by the Soviet authorities. By the end of the 80s, he became one of the leaders of national movement along with Merab Kostava and Zviad Gamsakhurdia. The conflict in South Ossetia split the opponents of the Communists – but only to a small degree. Although Gamsakhurdia and Chanturia did not agree on how to deal with the secessionist demands of the Ossetians, they were both more opposed to the Communists and continuing membership of the USSR. Akaki Chanturia
Akaki Chanturia ( ka, აკაკი ჭანტურია, 1881 – 11 May 1949) was a Georgian scientist, archaeologist and ethnographer. Educated primarily in England, where he lived from 1904 to 1920, Chanturia returned to his native Samegrelo to established the Dadiani Palaces Museum in Zugdidi. Early life and education in England Born in 1881, Chanturia attended a religious school in Senaki, a small town in Samegrelo. He could have entered the Tbilisi Theological Seminary, but instead decided to pursue his studies abroad. To achieve that goal, he moved to Batumi to work at the Rothschild factory, where he learned English and saved his pay to finance a trip to England. Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia (b. 24 December 1963, Tbilisi), is a Georgian NGO leader, formerly actively involved in national politics. A philologist by education, she graduated from the Faculty of Western Literature at Tbilisi State University in 1984. Married to the prominent Georgian politician Giorgi Chanturia, she was a member of the National Democratic Party of Georgia (NDPG) and participated in several protest actions against Soviet rule in the late 1980s. Appointed Deputy Prime Minister (1993–94), she headed the NDPG faction (second largest faction at that time) in the Georgian parliament from 1992 to 1999.
