Changi General Hospital
Changi General Hospital (abbreviation: CGH) is a 1000-bed large district general hospital located in Simei, eastern Singapore. It is Singapore's first purpose-built general hospital to serve communities in the east and north-east regions. The hospital has more than 23 medical services, from general surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, ENT to orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. It houses six specialist centres – Breast Centre, Changi Sports Medicine Centre, Diabetes Centre, Geriatric Centre, Integrated Sleep Service and Medical Centre for International Travellers. History On 15 February 1997, the Old Changi Hospital merged with Toa Payoh Hospital to form New Changi Hospital and began to move into the present premises. Simei MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East–West MRT line, East–West line (EWL) in Tampines, Singapore. Operated by SMRT Trains, the station serves the eponymous Simei, Simei residential estate. Simei
Simei ( ) is an estate located in Tampines, Tampines Town in the East Region, Singapore, Eastern Region of Singapore. The name ''Simei'' is pinyin for "Four Beauties" in Chinese. Formerly known as Tampines South, it was officially renamed to Simei in 1985. History and etymology The name "Simei" is the Pinyinized version of "Soo Bee", after a short minor lane off Jalan Angin Laut, Jalan Soo Bee. It acquired its name during the height of a government policy of "Speak Mandarin Campaign, Pinyinization". The current MP serving the Changi-Simei constituency is Jessica Tan. Simei used to be a Malay people, Malay kampung. A large part of it was a Chinese cemetery called Hwa San Tng. It was cleared in February 1982 to make way for the HDB estate at Simei. Toa Payoh Hospital
Toa Payoh Hospital (Chinese Simplified:大巴窑医院) was a hospital located in Toa Payoh, Singapore. The hospital started operations as Thomson Road Hospital on 20 May 1959 and in 1997 merged with Changi Hospital to form Changi General Hospital located in Simei. The premises of the hospital was supposed to be taken over by Ren Ci Community Hospital but was eventually demolished. History To meet the growing demand for medical services, the Singapore government decided to build a new hospital for the chronic sick at Thomson Road, named Thomson Road Hospital. A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when Ischemia, blood flow decreases or stops in one of the coronary arteries of the heart, causing infarction (tissue death) to the heart muscle.
