Changhua County
Changhua (Wade-Giles: ''Chang¹-hua⁴'') is a Taiwanese County (Taiwan), county that is the smallest on the Geography of Taiwan, main island of Taiwan by area, and the fourth smallest in the country. With a total population of 1.24 million, Changhua County is the most populous county in the Republic of China. Its capital is Changhua, Changhua City and it is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area. History Early history There are 32 prehistoric burial sites in Changhua that date back 5000 years. The original name of the area was ''Poasoa'' (), so-named by the local Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous tribes. Poasoa used to be inhabited primarily by the Babuza people, who have since been mostly assimilated by the Han Taiwanese, Han people. Changhua City
Changhua (Hokkien Pe̍h-ōe-jī, POJ: ''Chiong-hòa'' or ''Chiang-hòa''), officially known as Changhua City, is a county-administered city and the county seat of Changhua County in Taiwan. For many centuries the site was home to a settlement of Babuza people, a coastal tribe of Taiwanese aborigines. Changhua city is ranked first by population among County-administered city, county-administered cities. It is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area, which is the second largest in Taiwan. Historically, Changhua city was a base for the Han Chinese when they invaded Taiwan against the Taiwanese aborigines, constructing a fortress built out of bamboo. Changhua has a nickname of "Bamboo Town". Changhua is best known for its landmark Great Buddha Statue of Baguashan. At 26 metres tall, the statue sits atop Bagua Mountain overlooking the city. Wang Huei-mei (; born 22 November 1968) is a Taiwanese politician. She is the incumbent Magistrate of Changhua County Changhua (Wade-Giles: ''Chang¹-hua⁴'') is a Taiwanese County (Taiwan), county that is the smallest on the Geography of Taiwan, main island of Taiwan by area, and the fourth smallest in the country. She then received her Ph.D. in finance from National Changhua University of Education. Early careers Wang used to be a teacher for junior high schools and vocational high school, as well as a community college president. She is also an adjunct lecturer at Chienkuo Technology University and Dayeh University. Political career Wang was a member of the 13th, 14th and 15th Changhua County Councils. Changhua Railway Station
Changhua () is a railway station in Changhua City, Changhua County, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways. It is located at the southern junction of the Taichung line and Coastal line, where the line continues onto the southern section of the West Coast line. Overview The station has two island platforms and one side platform. Currently, there is an overpass at the south side of the station to access the back station platforms. A cross-platform station is currently under construction on the north side. History *26 March 1905: The station opened as Changhua-eki (彰化驛). *1918: The second-generation station was completed. *1922: The fan-shaped depot was constructed, as well as an overpass for the station. *10 December 1958: Construction on the current station is completed. *15 June 1959: The current station begins service.
