Chang Chuan-tien
Chang Chuan-tien (; 15 August 1945 – 10 September 2006) was a Taiwanese politician. Early life and education Chang was born in Taihoku Prefecture of Japanese Taiwan, in what is now Jiaoxi, Yilan. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Tunghai University, graduating in 1973. Political career He cofounded the Democratic Progressive Party in 1986, and was a member of the Yilan Gang, a DPP clique. Japanese Taiwan
The island of Taiwan, together with the Penghu Islands, became an annexed territory of the Empire of Japan in 1895, when the Qing dynasty ceded Fujian-Taiwan Province in the Treaty of Shimonoseki after the Japanese victory in the First Sino-Japanese War. The consequent Republic of Formosa resistance movement on Taiwan was defeated by Japan with the capitulation of Tainan. Japan ruled Taiwan for 50 years. Tunghai University
Tunghai University (THU; ) is a private university in Xitun District, Taichung, Taiwan, established in 1955. It was founded by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA). The university is known for its liberal arts education. Located at the foothills of Dadu Plateau, Dadu Mountain, Tunghai University spans over a hundred hectares, making it the largest private university campus in Taiwan by land area. Its early campus architecture, which embodies both architectural aesthetics and historical significance was built to include Modern architecture, modernism, traditional Chinese architecture along with locally indigenous elements. The Legislative Yuan () is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for four-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Democratic Progressive Party
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a centre to centre-left Taiwanese nationalist political party in Taiwan. As the dominant party in the Pan-Green Coalition, one of the two main political camps in Taiwan, the DPP is currently the ruling party in Taiwan, leading a minority government that controls the presidency and the central government.
