Chandler Simpson
Chandler Lenard Simpson (born November 18, 2000) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2025. Amateur career Simpson attended St. Pius X High School in Georgia. He received one offer to play college baseball at the NCAA Division I level, from the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB). He entered his true freshman season as the starting shortstop for the UAB Blazers, and played 14 games before it was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. Simpson batted .288 and stole 24 bases in 27 attempts as a redshirt freshman. After the season he transferred to Georgia Tech to play for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. In his only season playing for the Yellow Jackets, Simpson led Division I with a .434 batting average. Durham Bulls
The Durham Bulls are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. They are located in Durham, North Carolina, and play their home games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, which opened in 1995. Established as the Durham Tobacconists in the North Carolina League in 1902, the team subsequently disbanded and restarted numerous times. After a 10-year hiatus, it was reestablished as the Durham Bulls and played in the North Carolina State League from 1913 to 1917. The Bulls were members of the Piedmont League from 1920 to 1933 and for a second time from 1936 to 1943. Durham competed in the Carolina League from 1945 to 1971. 2022 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2022 Major League Baseball draft took place on July 17–19, 2022, in Los Angeles. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL or Cape League) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league located on Cape Cod in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. One of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues, the league boasts over 1,000 former players who have gone on to play in the major leagues. History Pre-modern era Origins As early as the 1860s, baseball teams representing various Cape Cod towns and villages were competing against one another. The earliest newspaper account is of an 1867 game in Sandwich, Massachusetts, Sandwich between the hometown "Nichols Club" and the visiting Cummaquid team. Though not formalized as a league, the games provided entertainment for residents and summer visitors.
