Champdoré-Irishtown is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. It was created out of parts of Moncton East, Shediac Bay-Dieppe, Kent South and a small part of Moncton Northwest. It was created in 2023 and will first be contested during the 2024 New Brunswick general election. 2024 New Brunswick General Election
The 2024 New Brunswick general election was held on October 21, 2024, where 49 members were elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. It was formally called upon the dissolution of the 60th New Brunswick Legislature on September 19, 2024. The incumbent Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick (PC) government, led by Premier Blaine Higgs since 2018, sought re-election to a third consecutive term. The party was defeated by the New Brunswick Liberal Association, led by Susan Holt, with them set to form a majority government in a landslide victory. The New Brunswick New Democratic Party (NB NDP; ) is a social democratic political party in New Brunswick, Canada. It is the provincial section of the federal New Democratic Party. History Origins and early history The origins of the New Brunswick NDP can be traced back to the establishment of the Fredericton Socialist League in 1902. The 2020 New Brunswick general election was held on September 14, 2020, to elect members of the 60th New Brunswick Legislature. The Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick, led by Blaine Higgs, won a majority government. The writs of election were issued by Lieutenant Governor Brenda Murphy on August 17, 2020, after a request was made by Premier Blaine Higgs to dissolve the legislature. The election was scheduled to take place on October 17, 2022, as determined by the fixed-date provisions of the ''Legislative Assembly Act'', which requires a general election to be held every four years on the third Monday in October. However, Premier Higgs called a snap election after negotiations failed with the other parties that would have avoided an election until the fixed date in 2022 or the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Westmorland County (2021 population: 163,576) is a county in New Brunswick, a province of Canada. It is in the south-eastern part of the province. It contains the fast-growing commercial centre of Moncton and its northern and eastern suburbs. Also located in the county are the university town of Sackville and the local tourist destination of Shediac. Westmorland County is centrally located in the Maritimes and is New Brunswick's most populous county.
