Champai Soren
Champai Soren (born 1 November 1956) is an Indian politician who served as the 7th Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2 February 2024 to 3 July 2024, following the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of money laundering. He served as a cabinet minister under Hemant Soren both before and after his tenure as Chief Minister. Early life and education Soren was born in Jilinggora village in Seraikela Kharsawan district. He is a tribal leader and his father Simal Soren is a farmer. He studied till Grade 10 in a government school before entering politics. He has seven children. Career Soren is an eight-time MLA. He was first elected from Seraikella in 1991 and served two-terms in the Bihar Legislative Assembly till 2000. Hemant Soren
Hemant Soren (born 10 August 1975) is an Indian politician who is serving as the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand since 4 July 2024. He previously held the office from 2019 to 2024 and from 2013 to 2014. He is also the president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a regional party. Soren has represented the Barhait constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly since 2014 and previously represented Dumka twice — from 2019 to 2020 and from 2009 to 2014. He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2010 to 2013, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019, and a member of the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand from 2009 to 2010. The 1st Jharkhand Assembly was constituted based on the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election after the formation of the new Jharkhand state. Jharkhand was created by carving out the southern districts of Bihar on 15 November 2000. 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The 11th Bihar Legislative Assembly elections were held in March 1995, to elect the 324 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Janata Dal got a decisive victory in the state; political manoeuvre ensured Lalu Prasad Yadav's victory in the chief ministership. According to political scientist Sanjay Kumar, this election set a different trend in caste based politics of the state of Bihar, as in this election, there were two main political blocs in the state contesting for power.
