"Champagne Dance" is a song by UK garage crew Pay As U Go. In April 2002, the single charted at number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. It remains the group's only charting hit single before they disbanded with members going on to join grime crew Roll Deep Roll Deep (formerly Roll Deep Entourage) are a British grime crew. Pay As U Go
Pay As U Go or Pay As U Go Cartel was a UK garage crew formed in late 1999 and 2000. In 2002, the collective achieved a No. 13 UK hit with " Champagne Dance". After Pay As U Go disbanded, Wiley went on to form the grime crew Roll Deep with fellow Pay As U Go members. Roll Deep would eventually include prominent artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder and Skepta. The crew has been credited for paving the way for grime music, alongside So Solid Crew and Heartless Crew. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house and jungle production methods, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London. Wiley is often labelled the " Godfather of Grime". Grime is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) that emerged in London in the early 2000s. Sticky (musician)
Sticky (born Richard Forbes) is a UK garage DJ and producer. He is best known for his 2001 hit "Booo!" featuring Ms. Dynamite, which peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart, and for the tracks "Triplets" and "Things We Do" featuring Kele Le Roc (which itself samples "Triplets"). In 1999, Sticky joined DJ/producer Jason Kaye's label Social Circles and since then worked with Kaye on many records, including "Booo!". Kaye, who died in 2023, was a member of breakbeat hardcore group Top Buzz.
