Champagnat, Creuse
Champagnat (; ) is a commune in the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France. Geography An area of lakes, forestry and farming comprising the village and several hamlets, situated some northeast of Aubusson at the junctions of the D40, D9, D19, D24 and the D993 roads. The river Tardes flows northward through the eastern part of the commune. The Voueize forms part of the commune's western border. Marcellin Joseph Benedict Champagnat, FMS (20 May 17896 June 1840) was a Catholic Church in France, French Catholic priest who founded of the Marist Brothers, a religious congregation of Religious brother, brothers devoted to Mary, mother of Jesus, Mary and dedicated to education. He was canonized in 1999 and his feast day is 6 June, his death anniversary. Champagnat was born in the year of the storming of the Bastille, the start of the French Revolution. The religious, political, economic, and social unrest of the times he lived influenced his priorities and life path. Champagnat was ordained as a priest on 22 July 1816 and was part of a group led by Jean-Claude Colin, who founded the Society of Mary (Marists), Society of Mary, a separate religious congregation. Club Champagnat is an Argentine sports club based in Buenos Aires, while its facilities and stadium are in the Champagnat neighborhood of Estancias del Pilar. Champagnat is primarily known for its rugby team, which currently plays in the Top 12, the first division of the URBA league system. League to which he was promoted at the end of 2023.
