Châlus (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Haute-Vienne Departments of France, department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regions of France, region in western France. History Richard I of England, Richard I, King of England was siege, besieging Châlus in 1199 when Pierre Basile wounded him with a crossbow bolt; Richard died of the wound. In 1275-1280, Géraud de Maumont built a second castle, Châlus Maulmont, in front of Châlus Chabrol. Chateau Châlus Maulmont was damaged extensively during the French Revolution, and was dismantled in 1790, then used as a prison. The tower of Châlus Maulmont collapsed on 20 March 1994. By 1745, the first map, in the 1/8628th, of Châlus is established to appear in the atlas of Trudaine for the majority of Limoges, with the portion of road at the level of La-Ribière going to Châlus of the Big road from Limoges to Périgueux and with the portion of road reaching the majority of Périgord. Chalus () is a city in the Central District of Chalus County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. History In the past and under Arabic influence, Chalus was called "Salus" or "Shalus". It has a long history of rebellions and clashes with regional rulers or occupying foreign forces. Chalus used to have a large silk factory that was active from 1936 to 1958, and exported fabrics and other silk products to different countries. Chalus is part of the Kelarestaq area of Ruyan (Tabaristan). Ruyan was an ancient land in the west of Mazandaran province during the Baduspanids era. This land includes Kojur, Kelarestaq and Tonekabon. The city of Kojur was the centre of the land of the Ruyans. Ruyan has always been part of the Tabaristan, nowadays called Mazandaran province. Chalus County () is in Mazandaran province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Chalus. History After the 2006 National Census, Kelardasht-e Gharbi Rural District was created in Kelardasht District, and Birun Bashm and Kuhestan Rural Districts, and the city of Marzanabad were separated from it in the formation of Marzanabad District. After the 2011 census, Kelardasht District was separated from the county in the formation of Kelardasht County. The village of Hachirud merged with other villages to become a city. Nowshahr, the eastern neighbor of Chalus, has close historical relationship with Chalus. Demographics Language The people residing in Chalus speak Mazanderani. Matěj Chaluš (born 2 February 1998) is a Czech professional footballer who players as a centre-back for Czech club Baník Ostrava. He has played for the Czech Republic national team. Career After Příbram was relegated to the Czech National Football League in 2016, Chaluš signed for Slavia Prague for an undisclosed fee. He immediately went on loan to Mladá Boleslav.
