Chak (village)
Chak, a Punjabi word, is the land revenue settlement/assessment circle marking a contiguous block of land. The word Chak comes from Chakar referring to a wheel in Punjabi, specifically a wheel associated with a water well. Historically there was one water well allotted per village and every village number allotted as per water-well wheel. Now the individual chak circles have come to be associated with the name of the village founded within the revenue circle. Chak circles are based on the British Raj era revenue collection system. To enhance the government revenue during the British Raj, new canals were built to bring the barani (rainfed) areas under cultivation by introducing the irrigation to the bangar (upland) areas of Punjab region. Block of contiguous land irrigated by the specific Rajwaha were given a unique ''chak'' number each. Chak Jhumra
Chak Jhumra ( Punjabi: چک جُھمرہ), is a town, railway junction, and Tehsil in Punjab, Pakistan. The town is situated around northeast of Faisalabad on Faisalabad-Sangla Hill Road. The Khanewal–Wazirabad Branch and Sangla Hill–Kundian Branch intersect in the town and connect it to Faisalabad and Sargodha respectively. Prior to the establishment of Pakistan, the town was known as a hub of the cotton trade. At the time, three cotton ginning factories operated within the town. CHAK-TV (channel 6) was a CBC Television station in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada. The station was registered on May 16, 1968, to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to operate on channel 6, with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts video and 300 watts audio. The antenna height ( EHAAT) would be 394 feet. This station was part of the CBC's Frontier Coverage Package for northern communications. CHAK-TV was also heard at 87.7 MHz on FM radios, though at a slightly lower volume than other FM stations - due to technical reasons. CHAK (AM)
CHAK is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 860 AM broadcasting, AM in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. The station broadcasts the programming of the CBC Radio One network known as CBC North. History CHAK was launched in 1947 as a local community station in neighbouring Aklavik on 1230 AM. A new station was built by the CBC in the new town of Inuvik to replace the old station in Aklavik. The new CHAK went on the air on November 26, 1960, on 860. The station was now part of the CBC Northern Radio Service. CHAK received CBC news and topical programs by picking up CBX (AM), CBX Edmonton and relaying the broadcast. Tapes recorded in Montreal were also flown in on regular airline flights.
