Chain Of Lakes (Winter Haven)
The Chain of Lakes is a famous series of lakes in Central Florida. There are two chains of lakes, the northern chain and the southern chain. The northern chain extends across three cities: Winter Haven, Lake Alfred, and Lake Hamilton. It has ten lakes, connected by a series of canals. The ten lakes on the northern chain are Lake Haines, Lake Rochelle, Lake Echo, Lake Conine, Lake Fannie, Lake Smart, Lake Henry, Lake Hamilton, Middle Lake Hamilton, and Little Lake Hamilton. The southern chain is located almost entirely within the city of Winter Haven. It has 16, sometimes 18, lakes connected by a series of canals. Central Florida
Central Florida is a Regions of the United States#Florida, region of the U.S. state of Florida. Lake Summit is a natural freshwater lake in Winter Haven, Florida. It has a surface area and is somewhat oval in shape. It has two small coves on its north side. This lake is surrounded by residences around most of its perimeter. Spring Lake, an oval-shaped lake, has a surface area of . Spring Lake is in a highly urbanized area. On the north shore is a retail area, US Highway 17 is on its east side. Lake May (Florida)
Lake May, a wedge-shaped lake, is a natural freshwater lake in southwest Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a surface area. It is bounded on the east and northeast by vacant land, on the northwest by commercial property, on the west and most of the south by vacant land and on the east and southeast by more commercial property. Much of the shore around the lake is lined by swampy areas. Public access is provided to Lake May on the south side at Lions Park. This public park is located on Avenue L Southwest. The park has a wooden elevated nature walk, a fishing dock and a playground. The Lake has no public swimming areas or boat ramps. Lake Winterset
Lake Winterset is a large natural freshwater lake on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a surface area and is round with an oval-shaped cove on its south end. The cove is connected to the main part of the lake by a short, wide channel. This lake is almost entirely surrounded by private residences, most of them in subdivisions, the majority of them gated subdivisions. Just to the north of Lake Winterset is Cypress Gardens Boulevard. About to the west is Lake Eloise; Dollar Lake and Round Lake are just to the southeast. Although this is a large lake there is no public access to the lake shore, since it is surrounded by private property. Therefore, Lake Winterset has no public swimming areas or boat ramps.
