Chai Mueangsing
Chai Mueangsing ( 24 October 1939–) is a famous Thai Luk thung singer, who was awarded National Artists of Thailand, performing art (International music) in 1995. Early life He was born Somsien Phanthong in Sing Buri province. He finished in secondary 6 from Sing Buri School. Career In 1961, he debuted on stage in Luk thung Chula Rat band. The head of Mongkol Amatayakala heard him competing with Porn Phirom and asked Chai to join his band. He recorded many popular tunes, including "Miea Phee Mee Choo", "Sib Ha Yok Yok", "Malai Dok Rak", "Ruea Lom Nai Nong", "Mae Sue Mae Chak", "Tham Boon Ruam Chat", "Phoe Luk Oon" and "Luk Sao Krai Noe". He interrupted his performing career in the 1970s, because of his parents death and other challenges he was facing during that time. He returned to performing in 1989. Sing Buri Province
Sing Buri (, ) is one of the central provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, and Chai Nat. Toponymy The word ''sing'' originates from Sanskrit ''singh'' meaning 'lion' and ''buri'', from Sanskrit ''puri'' meaning '' buri mueang'' 'fortified city' or 'town'. Hence the literal translation is 'lion city', sharing the same root as Singapore. Geography Sing Buri is located on the flat river plain of the Chao Phraya River valley. Eighty percent of the areas are wide flat areas, of which the soil is suitable for agriculture. There are a small number of slopes in swamps of different sizes. Luk Thung
Luk thung (, , ) is a genre of Thai music that emerged after World War II in the Central Thailand, central region of Thailand. The genre was derived from phleng Thai sakon, and developed in the early-20th century. Suphan Buri in particular became the center of ''luk thung'' music, producing many major artists, including Suraphol Sombatcharoen, and Pumpuang Duangjan. The genre has been prominently popularized in the northeastern region, having from its beginnings drawn upon northeastern ''mor lam'' musical traditions and the northeastern Isan language.
