Chad VanGaalen (born 1977) is a Canadian musician, animator, and artist from Calgary, Alberta. Career ''Infiniheart'' Following a few scattered independent releases, done mostly on homemade CDs with hand-drawn art, VanGaalen released '' Infiniheart'' (2004) on Canadian independent label Flemish Eye. ''Infiniheart'', a collection of songs selected from recordings made in his bedroom/makeshift studio, was picked up in 2005 by indie label Sub Pop. In late 2005, the album was re-released with a bonus six-song EP entitled ''Green Beans''. ''Skelliconnection'' On 22 August 2006, VanGaalen's second album, '' Skelliconnection'', was released in the U.S. on Sub Pop and in Canada on Flemish Eye. ''Infiniheart'' is an album by Canadian artist Chad VanGaalen. It was originally released in 2004 on Flemish Eye and was rereleased in 2005 on Sub Pop. The album was recorded in a makeshift studio in VanGaalen's basement, and uses a diverse array of instruments and equipment, almost all played by VanGaalen and some handmade by the artist. ''Skelliconnection'' is the second album by Canadian musician Chad VanGaalen. It was released on August 22, 2006 on Flemish Eye (Canadian distribution) and Sub Pop (U.S. distribution). In addition to writing and recording the album, VanGaalen performed almost all of the instruments and drew the album artwork. Like VanGaalen's debut album, '' Infiniheart'' (2004), ''Skelliconnection'' comprises material from hundreds of homemade recordings. On July 10, 2007, ''Skelliconnection'' was announced as a finalist for the Polaris Music Prize, alongside such other acts as The Dears, Julie Doiron, and Miracle Fortress.
