Steve Chabot
Steven Joseph Chabot ( ; born January 22, 1953) is an American politician and lawyer who has been the United States representative for since 2011. A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented the district from 1995 to 2009. In 2022, Chabot lost his reelection campaign to Democratic nominee Greg Landsman. Early life, education, and pre-political career Chabot was born in 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Gerard Joseph and Doris Leona (née Tilley) Chabot; paternally, he is of French-Canadian descent. He graduated from La Salle High School in Cincinnati in 1971, and then from the College of William and Mary in 1975, earning a Bachelor of Arts in physical education. Anthony Chabot Regional Park
Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a regional park in Oakland, Alameda County, California in the United States. It is part of the East Bay Regional Park District system, and covers in the San Leandro Hills adjacent to Oakland, San Leandro and Castro Valley. Popular activities include hiking, cycling and horseback riding. A gun range operated by the Chabot Gun Club was shut down in 2016, following complaints about pollution. The terrain of the park is often steep, consisting of grasslands, chaparral, and eucalyptus groves. Recreational activities The park is adjacent to Lake Chabot Regional Park, Redwood Regional Park, Dunsmuir Ridge Open Space, and the Upper San Leandro Reservoir. There are trails for hiking, horseback riding, and cycling that connect to other regional parks. Trailheads are located along Redwood Road and Skyline Boulevard in Oakland. Bart Chabot
Bart Chabot (The Hague, 26 September 1954) is a Dutch writer and poet. Biography Chabot went to the University of Leiden to study Dutch language and literature. During that period, he befriended the artists and drug users Jules Deelder and Herman Brood. Chabot's parents thoroughly disapproved. Soon after, Chabot decided to abandon his studies. In 1979, he made his debut as a poet with ''Als u zó gaat beginnen'' followed by ''Popcorn'' in 1981. Chabot did not want to cater to the world of literary critics, and attempted to write poetry everybody could understand with references to McDonalds, supermarkets, and rock-and-roll. Of his 1993 poetry collection ''Genadebrood'', a reviewer in ''World Literature Today'' noted Chabot's cynical philosophy and commented on the depressing nature of many of the poems. Paul Chabot
Paul Chabot (born March 19, 1974) is an American businessman, author, public speaker, former law enforcement officer, adjunct professor, and Commander of Naval Intelligence with the United States Navy Reserve. Chabot formerly served as a White House senior policy advisor on law enforcement for President George W. Bush, and prior was a Presidential Management Fellow. Paul also served in the U.S. State Department, Office of Inspector General, and U.S. Attorneys Office. He was the Republican candidate for California's 31st congressional district in 2014 and 2016. Anthony Chabot
Anthony Chabot (August 13, 1813 – January 6, 1888) was a nineteenth-century businessman and entrepreneur, notable for his contribution to developing hydraulic mining and for building water systems, especially in the Bay Area, so much that he became known as the "Water King". Biography Chabot was raised on a farm in La Presentation, near Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada. He was one of sixteen children and the son of a farmer. When he was sixteen years old, he left home, eventually settling in California in 1849. He began working in the mining industry in Nevada City, building ditches to supply the mines with water. In 1852 and 1853 he and Edward Matteson, while working at Buckeye Hill and American Hill respectively, devised the first hydraulic mining technology. Thomas Chabot (born January 30, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Chabot was drafted in the first round (18th overall) by the Senators in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In January 2017, Chabot became the first defenceman to be named the most valuable player of the World Junior Championships. Philippe de Chabot, Seigneur De Brion, Count of Charny and Buzançois (c. 1492 – 1 June 1543), also known as Admiral De Brion, was an admiral of France. Biography The Chabot family was one of the oldest and most powerful in Poitou. Philippe was a cadet of the Jarnac branch. He was a companion of Francis I as a child, and on that king's accession was loaded with honors and estates. Lake Chabot
Lake Chabot is a man-made lake covering in Alameda County, California, United States. Part of the lake lies within Oakland city limits, but most of it lies in unincorporated Castro Valley, just east of San Leandro. It was formed by the damming of San Leandro Creek. The lake was completed in 1875 to serve as a primary source of water for the East Bay. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has developed a safe eating advisory for Lake Chabot based on levels of mercury found in fish caught here. Henri Chabot (1616 – 27 February 1655) was a French nobleman and Duke of Rohan (first by marriage and then in his own right). His wife was the heiress Marguerite de Rohan, daughter of Henri, Duke of Rohan. He is also known as Henri de Chabot. Jean-Baptiste Chabot
Jean-Baptiste Chabot (16 February 1860 – 7 January 1948) was a Roman Catholic secular priest and the leading French Syriac scholar in the first half of the twentieth century. Life Born into a viticultural family at Vouvray-sur-Loire, Chabot trained at the seminary in Tours where he was ordained. Appointed as assistant priest to La Chapelle-sur-Loire in 1885, he served for two years before becoming a student of Thomas Joseph Lamy (1827–1907) at Louvain Catholic University in Belgium. His thesis published in Latin in 1892 was devoted to Isaac of Nineveh and included three unpublished homilies from British Museum manuscripts which Chabot translated. He then studied at the School for Higher Studies at the Sorbonne, and under Rubens Duval whose collaborator he became.
