Centro Cultural Border (Mexico City)
The Centro Cultural Border, or Border Cultural Center, is an independent cultural space in Colonia Roma that encourages the production, formation and awareness of emerging contemporary art with a focus on visual art, multimedia and graffiti. The center has a cafeteria, library, book store and a series of workshops focused on urban art. The library has materials in English and Spanish about illustration, graffiti, design and contemporary art. Origins and history The Centro Cultural Border opened in 2007 after a year of planning by its founders Eugenio Echeverría, Virginie Vincent, Arturo Delgado and Mónica Ashida. Metro Hospital General
Hospital General is a metro station along Line 3 of the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. General information This station transfers to the "S" trolleybus line, which runs between ISSSTE Zaragoza and Chapultepec. Hospital General serves passengers in the Colonias (neighborhoods) of Doctores and Roma. The station opened on 20 November 1970 when it served as the southern terminus of Line 3. Colonia Roma
Colonia Roma, also called La Roma or simply, Roma, is a district located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City just west of the city's historic center, and in fact is no longer a single '' colonia'' (neighbourhood) but now two officially defined ones, Roma Norte and Roma Sur, divided by Coahuila street. The colonia was planned as an upper-class Porfirian neighborhood in the early twentieth century. By the 1940s, it had become a middle-class neighborhood in slow decline, with the downswing being worsened by the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. Since the 2000s, the area has seen increasing gentrification. Currently Roma and neighbouring Condesa are known for being the epicenter of hipster subculture in the city, and rivals Polanco as the center of the city's culinary scene. Roni Horn (born September 25, 1955) is an American visual artist and writer. The granddaughter of Eastern European immigrants, she was born in New York City, where she lives and works. She is currently represented by Xavier Hufkens in Brussels and Hauser & Wirth. She is openly gay. Early life and education Roni Horn was born on September 25, 1955 in New York City. She was named for her grandmothers, both of whom were named Rose.
