The North-West University (NWU) is a public research university located on three campuses in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark in South Africa. The university came into existence through the merger in 2004 of the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, a large, historical university dating back to 1869, which also had a branch in Vanderbijlpark, and the University of North-West (formerly the University of Bophuthatswana). With its merged status, the North-West University became one of the largest universities in South Africa with the third largest student population (full-time and distance education) in the country. Warren Roger Whiteley (born 18 September 1987) is a South African former professional rugby union player for the in Super Rugby, the in the Currie Cup and the in the Rugby Challenge. His regular playing position was eighthman. He has previously played for the and the Blitzbokke. Arnold Rautenbach (born 27 March 1965) was the chief executive officer (CEO), of Absa Group Limited, a financial services conglomerate, with headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, and subsidiaries in eleven sub-Saharan countries. Mamokgethi Phakeng
Rosina Mamokgethi Phakeng (née Mmutlana, born 1 November 1966) is a South African professor of mathematics education who in 2018 became a vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town (UCT). She has been the vice principal of research and innovation, at the University of South Africa and acting executive dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at UNISA. In 2018 she was an invited speaker at the International Congresses of Mathematicians. In February 2023 it was announced that she would leave her position as vice-chancellor of UCT and take early retirement. She was succeeded by Professor Daya Reddy on 13 March 2023. Miss Universe 2017 was the 66th Miss Universe pageant, held at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on 26 November 2017. At the end of the event, Iris Mittenaere of France crowned Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa as Miss Universe 2017. It was South Africa's first victory in almost four decades, and the second victory of the country in the pageant's history. Contestants from ninety-two countries and territories competed in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of eighty-nine contestants in 2011 and 2012. The pageant was hosted by Steve Harvey in his third consecutive year, and supermodel Ashley Graham. Demi-Leigh Tebow ( ; née Nel-Peters; born 28 June 1995) is a South African model and beauty queen best known for winning the title of Miss Universe 2017. She was crowned Miss South Africa 2017, and the second Miss Universe winner from South Africa, following Margaret Gardiner, who was crowned Miss Universe 1978. Early life and education Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was born on 28 June 1995 in Sedgefield, Western Cape, to Bennie Peters and Anne-Marie Steenkamp. Gerhard Mostert
Gerhard Mostert is a professional rugby union player who played for Stade Français in the Top 14. He was schooled at Die Hoërskool Rustenburg. Mostert made his provisional debut for the in 2010, and played for the Sharks against the Chiefs in the 2010 Super 14 season. Mostert had previously played for the Golden Lions. Katlego Maboe
Katlego Moswane Maboe (born 29 October 1986) is a South African TV presenter, singer-songwriter and accountant. He was consecutively awarded Best TV Presenter at the South African Film and Television Awards in 2015 and 2016. He is also known for hosting the morning talk show ''Expresso'' on SABC 3 since its inception in 2010. Early life Maboe was born in Itsoseng, a township near Lichtenburg, and raised in the township of Ikageng, near Potchefstroom.
