The Markazii Jumhuriyavii Stadium () or Republican Central Stadium, formerly known as Pamir Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium currently holds 20,000. It is currently the home ground of the Tajikistan national football team, Istiqlol Dushanbe and CSKA Pamir Dushanbe. It also hosted Afghanistan national football team matches during 2022 World Cup qualification. It is located next to Dushanbe Zoo. Dushanbe is the Capital city, capital and largest city of Tajikistan. , Dushanbe had a population of 1,564,700, with this population being largely Tajiks, Tajik. The Tajikistan national football team represents Tajikistan in international football and is controlled by the Tajikistan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Tajikistan. Tajikistan's home ground is the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe. History Tajikistan played its first official game on 11 April 1994 in Tashkent as part of a regional tournament. It lost that game against Kazakhstan 0–1. The first official competition the team entered was the qualifiers for the 1996 AFC Asian Cup, when it was seeded in the 3-team Group 8 with Uzbekistan and Bahrain. CSKA Pamir Dushanbe () is a professional football club based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, that currently plays in the Tajikistan Higher League, the country's top division. Since 1997, the club has been under the patronage of the Tajik Army, like its former rivals CSKA Dushanbe. History Created in 1970 based on FC Energetik Dushanbe, the new Pamir Dushanbe was the only Tajik club to be promoted to the former Soviet Top League, in which the club played for the last three seasons that the league existed just prior to the dissolution of the USSR: 1989, 1990, and 1991. Dushanbe Zoo or Dushanbe Zoological Park (; ) was founded in 1960 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The zoo is located in the center of the city on the Luchob river bank (on Ismoili Somoni Avenue), next to the Pamir Stadium, and measures roughly twice the size of the stadium.
