Central Park Station (KMRT)
Central Park is a station on the Red line of Kaohsiung MRT in Sinsing District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The station is named after the nearby Central Park. Station Overview The station is a two-level, underground station with an island platform and three exits. It is 197 meters long and is located at the intersections of Zhongshan 1st Rd., Minsheng 2nd Rd., and Wufu 3rd Rd. It was originally planned to be named "Shinkuchan Station", but was later changed to its current name. The station was designed by British architect Richard Rogers. Windmill-shaped flowers cover the courtyard grass areas. Sinsing District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency () is a downtown district of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Name Sinsing means ''new prosperity'' in Mandarin Chinese. History Sinsing used to be called Tāi-káng-po͘ () in early days where it was filled with endless wilderness before. During the Japanese rule of Taiwan, residents in the area used to make a living from farming and lived a simple life. Due to the nature of agriculture industry, people deployed water conservation methods in the area, thus irrigation system was spread all over the area. Richard George Rogers, Baron Rogers of Riverside (23 July 1933 – 18 December 2021) was a British-Italian architect noted for his modernist and constructivist designs in high-tech architecture. Shinkuchan () is a pedestrian zone, car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Kaohsiung. Shinkuchan is a collection of several streets and alleys and is packed with boutique clothing shops and restaurants along with many stalls selling food, snacks, and drinks. Urban Spotlight Arcade
The Urban Spotlight Arcade () is located at Central Park, Cianjin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It spans from the roundabout of Wu-Fu 3rd Road and Chung-Hua Road to the intersection of Wu-Fu 3rd Road and Chung-Shan road. It is famous for its light decoration in the evening. Holy Rosary Cathedral, Kaohsiung
The Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (; officially called ) is the oldest Roman Catholic church and Minor Basilica in the Republic of China. The shrine is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the venerated title of “Our Lady of Holy Rosary”. It is located in Lingya District, Kaohsiung and is the seat of the Bishop of Kaohsiung. Glory Pier
The Glory Pier () is a pier at the river mouth of Love River in Lingya District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The pier was originally known as Pier 13 in which it used to serve as the military port that connected between Kaohsiung and Kinmen and Matsu. After its retirement as military port in 2005, the Kaohsiung City Government renamed the pier to be Glory Pier to commemorate its glorious history. The government also built a 500 meters-long path along the pier which turning it into a new scenic with the view of the bay. Activities There have been numerous cultural and art exhibitions and live performances held at the pier, such as the annual Kaohsiung Maritime Expo and Kaohsiung's Lunar New Year celebrations (branded as Kaohsiung Wonderland since 2024). Central Park (Kaohsiung)
Central Park () is a park in Cianjin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The park is an oasis of greenery in the midst of a heavily built-up urban area. History City planners first conceived of, and set aside space for, a park at Central Park's current location during the period when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. Later on, planners during the early period of Republic of China rule referred to the concept as ''Park Number 15''. Central Park formally came into being in 1976. At one point, the park featured a library, basketball courts, tennis courts, a parking lot, the District swimming pool, and Sun Yat-sen Arena.
