Central Northeast, also sometimes called Mahaning Heights, is a small neighborhood located in Northeast Washington, D.C., with Fort Mahan Park at its center. Wendell Felder (born 1990) is an American politician from Washington, D.C. Felder, a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, serves on the Council of the District of Columbia, representing Ward 7. Early life Felder is a fourth-generation Washingtonian who grew up in Southeast (Washington, D.C.), Southeast D.C. and attended McKinley Technology High School. Felder went on to receive a B.S. from Bowie State University and a M.A. from Georgetown University. Career Felder commenced his career in public service in the D.C. Office of Community Relations and Services, where he served as a constituent services representative. Minnesota Avenue station is an island-platformed Washington Metro station in the Central Northeast/Mahaning Heights neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C., United States. The station was opened on November 20, 1978, and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). On the Orange Line's westbound service, Minnesota Ave is the last station before crossing the Anacostia River, as well as the last above-ground station until East Falls Church in Virginia. West of the station, trains curve over RFK Stadium parking lots before descending underground. Location Minnesota Avenue station is located between Kenilworth Avenue and Minnesota Avenue, at Grant Street, immediately east of the CSX Landover Subdivision rail bed. Eastland Gardens, Washington, D
SS ''Eastland'' was a passenger ship based in Chicago and used for tours. On 24 July 1915, the ship capsized while tied to a dock in the Chicago River. In total, 844 passengers and crew were killed in what was the largest loss of life from a single shipwreck on the Great Lakes. After the disaster, ''Eastland'' was salvaged and sold to the United States Navy. After restorations and modifications, ''Eastland'' was designated a gunboat and renamed USS ''Wilmette''. She was used primarily as a training vessel on the Great Lakes, and was scrapped after World War II. Construction The ship was ordered during 1902 by the Michigan Steamship Company and built by the Jenks Ship Building Company of Port Huron, Michigan.
