Central Catalonia
Central Catalonia' (; ), also known as ''Comarques Centrals'', is one of the nine regions (''vegueries'') of Catalonia. It had 412,033 inhabitants in 2022. Located around the upper and middle sections of the Llobregat and Ter rivers, it includes the counties of Bages, Berguedà , Lluçanès, Moianès, Osona and Solsonès. It borders to the north-west with Alt Pirineu, to the west with Ponent, to the south with Penedès, to the south-east with Barcelona and to the north and north-east with Girona. Its ''de facto'' capital is Manresa, the most populous city, as a law has not set one yet. The Central Catalonia counties of Lluçanès and Osona, as well as Ripollès, which is located in the Girona region, comprise the natural region and proposed separate vegueria of Alt Ter. Vegueries Of Catalonia
Catalonia is internally divided into eight regional divisions, known in Catalan as (singular ''vegueria'', ), following the regional plan of Catalonia. Each vegueria is further divided into ''comarques'' and municipalities, with the exception of the Aran Valley, considered a "unique territorial entity". The vegueries system is based on the feudal administrative territorial jurisdiction of the Principality of Catalonia, which was abolished with the Nueva Planta decrees of 1716. The current division was established by the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 2006 with two functions: an inter-municipal government and the arrangement of the services from the Generalitat de Catalunya. Llobregat
The Llobregat () is the second longest river in Catalonia, Spain, after the Ter. It flows into the Mediterranean south of the city of Barcelona. Its name could have originated in an ancient Latin word meaning 'dark', 'sorrowful' or 'muddy', or from ''Rubricatus'', "red." The Generalitat de Catalunya (; oc, label=Aranese, Generalitat de Catalonha; es, Generalidad de Cataluña), or the Government of Catalonia, is the institutional system by which Catalonia politically organizes its self-government. 3/24 () is a Spanish Catalan-language free-to-air news and information network operated by Televisió de Catalunya (TVC). It was launched on 11 September 2003. History 3/24 was born on 11 September 2003 as an initiative of the Catalan public television to develop digital terrestrial television in Catalonia. However, a general lack of DVB-T set top boxes combined with slight public interest towards digital terrestrial television prompted TVC to simulcast in analogue. From its launch on 11 September 2003 until 12 June 2004, 3/24 was on air daily from 11p.m. till 8:30a.m.. The channel now operates as a regular full-time channel. Contents 3/24 devotes exclusively to live news and information, including news, traffic (morning), sports and stock markets from Bolsa de Barcelona. Alt Ter
Alt Ter (; English: ''Upper Ter'') is a natural region and proposed ''vegueria'' by the Ter river in Catalonia. Consisting of the counties of Lluçanès, Osona and Ripollès, it is part of the regions of Central Catalonia and Girona. with 191,534 inhabitants as of 2022. History Historically, the proposal to become a vegueria has been based on Region 6 of the division made during the Spanish Republic, which comprised Osona, Ripollès and Baixa Cerdanya, following the Trans-Pyrenean Railway, with Vic as its seat. In 2003, a platform for the vegueria of Alt Ter was created, encompassing Osona and Ripollès (and Garrotxa in some instances). In 2023, the municipalities of the counties of Bages and Osona were integrated into the new county of Lluçanès, thus making up part of the Alt Ter vegueria proposal. Ripollès (; es, link=no, Ripollés) is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the Ribes and Camprodon river valleys. In 2001, its population was 25,744, about 40% of whom lived in the capital, Ripoll. Ripollès borders the comarques of Baixa Cerdanya, Berguedà , Osona, Garrotxa, and – across the border in France – Vallespir, Conflent Conflent () is a historical Catalan comarca of Northern Catalonia, now part of the French department of Pyrénées-Orientales.
