Hüseyin Cemil Meriç (December 12, 1916 – June 13, 1987) was a Turkish writer and translator who wrote various articles in social sciences and contributed to Turkish literature with his twelve books in the twentieth century. Early life He was born in Reyhaniye (today's Reyhanlı) in 1916. He was the child of a family who had migrated from Dimetoka during the Balkan Wars. His father, Mahmut Niyazi Bey, who was a judge in Dimetoka, and his mother was Zeynep Ziynet Hanım. His father Mahmut Niyazi Bey served as the Head of Ziraat Bank Directorate and the head of court in Antakya. İrvin Cemil Schick (born 1955) is a Turkish intellectual and cultural historian of Islam with a focus on the early modern Ottoman Empire. Xhemil Dino (21 December 1894 – 2 July 1972) was an Albanian politician and diplomat. He was born in Preveza in the Janina Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire on 21 December 1894 to a branch of the notable Dino family of the area. He studied in Galatasaray High School and after the declaration of independence of Albania he was elected deputy of Dibër. He was a delegate from Albania to the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Assembly of the League of Nations (1925–1927). He became ambassador of Albania to the United Kingdom in 1932. Cemil Usta (10 April 1951 – 5 March 2003) was a Turkish football player who played as a leftback. A one-club man, Usta solely represented Trabzonspor at a senior level and was a long-time captain of the team in their golden age. Usta twice represented the Turkey national football team. Usta was nicknamed ''Dozer'' (Turkish for bulldozer). Death On 15 March 2003, Usta died from a heart attack in his hometown Trabzon. On 20 August 2008, Trabzonspor named their oldest training facility Usta. On 14 November 2009, a forest in the Zigana Pass was named after him. Cemil Turan (born 1 January 1947) is a former Turkish football player and the current director of Fenerbahçe S.K. Academy. Career He debuted at Sarıyer G.K. when he was 14. He transferred first to Istanbulspor and then to Fenerbahçe, where he won 3 league championship titles (1974, 1975, 1978). He was three times league topscorer with 14 goals in 1974 and with 17 goals in 1976 and 1978. He scored 194 lifetime goals. Turan scored 19 goals at his 44 games with the Turkey national football team between 1969 and 1979. He ranks 4th with this notable performance still today. After his retirement in 1980, Turan served at various administrative positions first in Istanbulspor and then in Fenerbahçe. He is currently coordinator for the sporting infrastructure of Fenerbahçe.
