Celebrations (confectionery)
Celebrations is a miniature chocolate bar collection made by Mars, Incorporated, launched in 1997. It comprises miniature versions of full size Mars brands. Celebrations have the tagline "Share the joy", and were one of the first mixed box of chocolates in the United Kingdom to bring together confectionery which had been already released in one box or tin instead of introducing new, especially-created confectionery made exclusively for the UK market, by a major producer. Celebrations boxes are now sold in multiple countries which tend to have the same brands as the UK (Galaxy goes under Dove in most countries), but do differ in some circumstances. For example, Twix are not available in Celebrations boxes purchased in Australia. Quality Street (confectionery)
Quality Street is a line of tinned and boxed toffees, chocolates and candy, sweets, first manufactured in 1936 by Mackintosh's in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. It was named after J. M. Barrie's play ''Quality Street (play), Quality Street''. Since 1988, the confectionery has been produced by Nestlé. Quality Street has long been a competitor to Cadbury Roses, which were launched by Cadbury in 1938. History In 1890, Mackintosh's, John Mackintosh and his wife opened a shop in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England where they created a new kind of sweet by mixing hard toffee with runny caramel. The toffees were made from inexpensive local ingredients such as milk, sugar beet and eggs. Cadbury's Heroes (previously Cadbury's Miniature Heroes), and known as Cadbury Favourites in Australia and New Zealand, is a brand of packaged confectionery containing a selection of miniature chocolate bars manufactured by Cadbury. Introduced in September 1999, they were a response to rival Mars' Celebrations which were launched in 1997, and contain miniature versions of various Cadbury chocolate bars. Its name was changed to its current "Cadbury Heroes" in 2002. Cadbury Roses
Cadbury Roses is a brand of chocolates made by Cadbury. Introduced in the UK in 1938 (as a competitor to Quality Street launched by Mackintosh's in 1936), they were named after the English packaging equipment company "Rose Brothers" based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, that manufactured and supplied the machines that wrapped the chocolates. In 2020, an alternative origin of the name was given in a text panel printed on the side of tubs of Roses. It notes they were named after the favourite flowers of Dorothy Cadbury, a director of the company and renowned botanist, which grew in the gardens of the original factory at Bournville. Upon launch in Ireland they were called 'Cadbury's Irish Rose'; however, this name was discontinued in the 1970s. ''Topic'' was a chocolate bar made by Mars, Incorporated in France and sold throughout Europe. It contained hazelnuts, nougat and caramel. The bar was first introduced in 1962. In the UK, it was advertised with the line "A Hazelnut in Every Bite". In 1997, a Topic bar was found to have contained the remains of a mouse. A subsequent court case ruled that Mars could not be found guilty of negligence under the Food Safety Act, due to the mouse originating from a supplier in Turkey, and the fact that Mars had been diligent in checking the Turkish operation. The chocolate bar was promoted in a series of radio advertisements broadcast in 2002 with the strapline "A joy to eat, but a bitch to make". Bounty is a coconut-filled, chocolate-enrobed candy bar manufactured by Mars Inc., introduced in 1951 in the United Kingdom and Canada. It is an imitation of the Mounds bar introduced by Peter Paul in 1936. The Bounty is no longer domestically sold within the United States, only being available via import sales. Galaxy Caramel
Dove (sold as Galaxy in the UK, Ireland, Middle East and India) is an American brand of chocolate owned and manufactured by Mars. Dove produces a wide range of chocolate candies, as well as other chocolate products such as milks, cakes and ice creams. History The name comes from Dove Candies & Ice Cream, which were Chicago-based candy and ice cream shops owned by Leo Stefanos, a Greek-American in 1939.
