''Cejpia'' is a genus of fungi in the family Dermateaceae. The genus, named in honour of Czech mycologist Karel Cejp, contains two species. The genus was circumscribed by Josef Velenovsky in Monogr. Karel Cejp
Karel Cejp (22 February 1900 – 22 September 1979) was a Czech botanist and mycologist. After finishing highschool (rokycanském gymnáziu), he worked with Bohuslav Horak, an expert in the flora of the Balkan Peninsula and the Mediterranean. Later, he studied at Charles University in Prague with Josef Velenovský. In 1933 he was appointed an associate professorship, and in 1948 became a full professor. Cejp became the editor of the mycological journal '' Czech Mycology'' in 1948. Fungal taxa named in his honour include ''Cejpia ''Cejpia'' is a genus of fungi in the family Dermateaceae. Helotiales is an order (biology), order of the class Leotiomycetes within the division Ascomycota. The taxonomy within Helotiales has been debated. Circumscription (taxonomy)
In biological taxonomy, circumscription is the content of a taxon, that is, the delimitation of which subordinate taxa are parts of that taxon. For example, if we determine that species X, Y, and Z belong in genus A, and species T, U, V, and W belong in genus B, those are our circumscriptions of those two genera. Another systematist might determine that T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z all belong in genus A. Agreement on circumscriptions is not governed by the Codes of Zoological or Botanical Nomenclature, and must be reached by scientific consensus.
