Cedar Valley High School
Cedar Valley High School is a public high school in Eagle Mountain, Utah, United States. It serves students in grades 9-12 for the Alpine School District. History Construction for the high school began in 2017, following the passage of a $387 million bond by voters in Alpine School District. The name Cedar Valley was decided in 2018, among a number of names. The school cost $68.2 million to build. Cedar Valley opened in the fall of 2019. Among the attendees at the opening ceremony were Representative Ben McAdams and "Candy Bomber" Gail Halvorsen. Athletics Cedar Valley participates in sports sanctioned by the Utah High School Activities Association. The school's nickname is the Aviators. The school competes in Region 2 of class 6A. Eagle Mountain, Utah
Eagle Mountain is a city in Utah County, Utah. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The city is located to the west as well as north of the Lake Mountains, which are west of Utah Lake. It was incorporated in December 1996 and is rapidly growing. The population was 43,623 at the 2020 census. Eagle Mountain was a town in 2000. Alpine School District
Alpine School District. The district was founded in 1915, and includes all grades from kindergarten through high school (K-12). As of 2018, there were 58 elementary schools, 14 junior high schools, 11 high schools, and 9 special purpose schools serving approximately 78,659 students, making it the largest school district in Utah. Gail Halvorsen
Colonel Gail Seymour Halvorsen (October 10, 1920 – February 16, 2022) was a senior officer and command pilot in the United States Air Force. He rose to fame for dropping candy to German children during the Berlin Airlift from 1948 to 1949, for which he is was nicknamed "Berlin Candy Bomber" or "Uncle Wiggly Wings". Halvorsen grew up in rural Utah and always had a desire to fly. He earned his private pilot's license in 1941 and then joined the Civil Air Patrol. He joined the United States Army Air Forces in 1942 and was assigned to Germany on July 10, 1948, to be a pilot for the Berlin Airlift. Halvorsen piloted C-47s and C-54s during the Berlin airlift ("Operation Vittles"). During that time he founded "Operation Little Vittles", an effort to raise morale in Berlin by dropping candy via miniature parachute to the city's residents.
